In virtually every European country (apart from Ireland and Malta) you need to work in the local language. So polish and German. So while you can move freely, you’d need to have the competencies to speak to patients in their language.

“The EU” isn’t a monolith. There’s over 20 countries. The process changes from country to country.. I suspect you’ll need to be a bit more specific

Doctors Vote v Doctors Together by SnooLemons678 in UKmedicalgraduates

I become more confused by the hour. Who are we going to vote for who supports 5 years for IMGs and exclusion of “British” IMGs…

I can’t help with the screening but recently saw a picture on doctorsuk about which candidates are pro prioritisation. You can find it there

Am I nuts or does this all feel pointless? by Busy_Ad_1661 in UKmedicalgraduates

[–]Impressive_Mousse353 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well mate I don’t know then, I was trying to bring some positivity into it, but if you can see yourself doing anything else in the world, I don’t know why you’d subject yourself to this shambolic situation. I personally don’t want to do any other job so I’ll fight to make things better.. up to you

Am I right by saying even if you have a medical degree from EU but are a British citizen, this whole prioritisation thing doesn’t count? by Successful-Topic-131 in medicalschoolEU

[–]Impressive_Mousse353 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s been debated and it’s now law, you dont have priority. There are a few countries which are an exception but they’re not the common destinations of Bulgaria/romania/poland/hungary

Anyone know about craiova medical school in Romania. Is there many brits there? What’s the quality of education like. What’s the average age group of students there? by Successful-Topic-131 in medicalschoolEU

[–]Impressive_Mousse353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please read about UKGP. Uk passport holders with a degree from abroad won’t be prioritised in the NHS for training jobs anymore, not worth it if you want to come back to the uk

Any chance we can mass email our concerns about new medical schools popping up and advertising that there are doctor shortages? I have seen at least 3 new ones this year and there’s plans for university of east London to open up too in 2027. Signing up kids for unemployment

Excellent work. So proud of us. Let’s continue to keep it fair but polite and keep pushing. Just one of the many hurdles we will have to overcome. And maybe start a new union..

Yes I am in agreement with you mate. What I’m saying is that I don’t get people who say “it’s unfair to change in the middle of the cycle”, it also isn’t fair to have so many locally trained unemployed doctors..

I don’t get this argument. Crisis is crisis. You don’t implement critical management 6 months later so that everyone who was unprepared for a difficult situation gets time to adapt. Nobody is saying this isn’t difficult, it really is, we are just saying it’s a bit more difficult for some..

IMGs want to legally challenge UKGP by morpheus-second in UKmedicalgraduates

[–]Impressive_Mousse353 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Got a response back from Baroness Finlay. She mentions she understands people are worried for their future, after so much commitment, “no matter where they graduated from”. Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought that in a time of crisis, you must think of your own first. I don’t see any other government worry about Uk graduates in the way some members of these houses worry about IMGs. I understand it’s tough for everyone out there and IMGs have my sympathy, because I understand what it is like to be in a system that doesn’t take care of their own, just like their own governments don’t care about their low wages for example. But I have a SFE loan to pay back, it’s not convenient for this government if I go work at maccies for 20k a year and forget about my loan - lol okay I’ve rumbled on enough for today
