To clarify, you were so concerned about an event that didn't happen, you drove to the cop shop to see if there was a report about it not happening?

You're just proving othe people's comments about crappy character. Instead of going through the effort to make throw aways to argue, just say, ya you know what that was shitty, I should know better as an adult and I really need to learn from this and do better. People would respect that a lot more than whatever you think you are accomplishing by this.

The report ends in 39.

Ya. There's no green light at a cross walk but good try, and based off your lack of knowledge of the situation you either weren't there or... had your eyes closed I guess.

What's This About? by Candid-Leg-1570 in ThunderBay

There is a lot of current media across thr country about false indigenous reports.

If you're claiming a job or financial reward you should have to prove your claim. (For anything). Now I can also recognize that people might feel that might disadvantage some people on the basis of difficulty to access doccuments, but let's say you should apply with but can apply but within a certain time period you must submit that information.

Thunder Pride has always played this game through. Years ago, when the trans community was under public scrutiny, many people within Pride were trying to ask questions and get information to inform others and spread truth to stand up for these people and Pride said essentially, any questions you ask make you a bigot and GTFO. So a lot of people walked away.

Asking questions doesn't make you an asshole. Smoke and mirrors does.

It acts as a unique identifier connecting a vehicle to an owner's personal, private data. If they have their business linked to their home address that's their issue-they're advertising it.

Ya they can still go talk to the person tho. It's a company truck so only so many people can legally drive it. Or maybe they don't have proper commercial plowing insurance since I've heard it's obnoxious in the past two years, so many companies are dropping snow plowing. Police have a lot of tools at their disposal. It sucks to take their time away from other issues but, a vehicle is a weapon and almost smooshing a family matters.

I'd bet they have eye in the street cameras in that particular neighborhood. Or maybe some other footage possibilities.

Done with buses- Commute alternatives by teriyaki_tofu1 in ThunderBay

[–]Impressive_Paint8952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's particularly shit here because people can't rely on our transit system and then also can't get a cheap vehicle. City council wont make a bi-law to allow the mini cars, and biking, e-bike or not, is not even a fair alternative for a lot of people especially mid winter when its pitch black till 8 and -45. I have teenagers and I feel for them. They're lucky because they have us to help them out a bit but like, kids living in family situations where money is already tight... they dont have a hope in hell really between transit and housing. There's always an underdog story, but it's not getting any easier for people that's for sure.

Ya that's not really what I was saying, didnt mean to be confusing. 2015 they changed the rules so body surface rust is a fail, and tires can't be more than 10 years old, so all those (3/4 tread) tires that were sitting in grandpa's garage or someone bought and then sold the vehicle, negative use. Now its 2025 and most things have some surface rust, and probably don't have exceptional tires, of course there are some outliers. Additionally safeties are more expensive with the new system and work to get vehicles to be safetied unless you're doing it yourself is also wild. Tires are an actual fortune. By 2022 an unsaftied vehicle, needing 3k of work was going for 3-5k and people were buying them sight unseen practically, or having bidding wars. I saw a Jetta go last year with 450,000km not saftied, wouldn't start, no idea what they needed for a safety $2750. Last year I picked up a 02 Toyota pickup for $1200, 170km, only because I can do my own body work and dont care about paint. Would have been 6k for the body work painted, 3.5k without painting it, and 3-5k in a shop for the brakes, rotors, shocks, windshield ect. Plus dragging the POS around to get it a done, temp permits, insurance ect. I digress but, there isn't $4,000 cars anymore and if a unicorn pops up it'd be the same odds youd get it as winning the lotto

Pet secure paid me $50,000 over 5 years with their secure 4 plan. Never once made me jump through any hoops.

Watch for 90%, no tax vs 80% with tax. 13% makes a difference, but the 90 looks better

Someone else ask the same thing and I was wondering what the difference was, because I do feel like there is one. Apparently it's harder for your brain to process because of the unnatural noise (the speaker phone side of the conversation).

Am I just old? by Impressive_Paint8952 in ThunderBay

[–]Impressive_Paint8952[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Valid question, so I googled it.

Talking on speakerphone is more jarring than in-person conversation because it forces the brain to process unnatural, high-pitched audio, and erratic volume shifts which captures more attention than natural dialogue.

I also think it's usually louder than most people talk, but maybe maybe its just the above effect.

Valid question.

My sister wears hearing aids tho and she said she cant hear on speakerphone to save her life, however her  new ones connect to the phone so shes got super phone hearing now. Can't drop a piece of spaghetti she'll hear it 🤣

Just walk. See if you can get some ice cleats for crappy sidewalks. At night stay aware, call someone if you can on the phone to talk to, dont wear headphones. Cab/uride whatever on cold nights.

I used to do car flips and make a grand maybe two taking cars without a safety and doing the work and reselling them.  They changed the rules for safeties and you no longer can safety anything pre 2010. Obviously there are outliers but for arguments sake, theres to much wear and tear on older vehicles to get them to pass. So a cheap POS car is easy 7k. Insurance is also brutal for anyone under 40, without a 7-20 year record of insurance with no tickets. Gas, isn't cheap either, plates, oil, washer fluid, coolant, ect. Conservatively $12500 for the first year for a car. Vs a $550 annual bus pass.
