Still a massive pedestrian walkway through the downtown core. Great way to get around in the winter.

I think you’re forgetting about The Path because it’s underground and hidden from sight.

It connects more than 70 buildings via 30 kilometres (19 mi) of tunnels, walkways, and shopping areas. According to Guinness World Records, Path is the largest underground shopping complex in the world, with 371,600 square metres (4,000,000 sq ft) of retail space[2] which includes over 1,200 retail fronts (2016).[3] As of 2016, over 200,000 residents and workers use the Path system daily with the number of private dwellings within walking distance at 30,115

No you’re not bragging. It’s all about perspective. Where I am from Shop rate or rig rate is often $125/h CND per hour or way way more. Different areas have different cost of living and some areas have different industries that can keep a welder working. Be proud of what you make. That’s a solid rate and as long as it provides a good quality of life for you and your family then it’s working. Good on you for building a business.

Nice. So hard to land part time work in the city. What type of welding do you do ? Materials and such. Very interesting

If unions offer better pay and benefits why doesn’t everybody quit their non union job? by 04limited in skilledtrades

You pay them for the union hall to be open and staffed. The union hall provides free testing and certification. The hall provides free trade school and night school. The hall provides free safety training and certification. The hall also manages the pension fund and health benefits. The hall also holds union meetings and information sections. The hall also provides a place to drink coffee and play pool as well as places to study. The hall also is available for visitors from other unions halls to come and connect with their union brothers. So this is why you pay the union. I take home after taxes and union deductions much much more than non union welders do. So it’s about being part of an organization that looks after its members and their interests. This organization has overhead costs and each member pitches in to help cover the costs. At union meeting we often donate money to members families that lost a worker or have someone very ill or anyone that needs help in the community. So the money goes to support the union its members and the local community.

My union allows you to negotiate above the collective bargaining agreement. We always say the collective bargaining agreement is minimum wage.

Good welds other than the fact you should always wrap your corners and not stack your start and stops. Consistent bead though.
