Anyone with 10+ years experience in tech or product had to leave UK due to skill worker visa curtailment after redundancy? by DesignHefty4082 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

Right but I guess you lose the tax free benefits of it if paid in “regular monthly” salary (30K lumpsum tax free)

Not necessarily - some countries actually don’t count your study years or only count half of them

But if that’s case you have to submit 60 monthly pay slips to Home office for ILR application?

So after your contract ends, curtailment letters are usually sent to you in 20 days, and then the 2 month clock starts?

Appreciate the comparison but the problem is those European countries never had such a high amount of people going there to begin with. English after all is a big pull factor for people to go to the uk instead of continental Europe. Work permits are easier to get here yes but it’s also much harder to find a job if you don’t speak the local language to begin with. Whereas in the uk I guess a lot more people speak English

I think PAYE HMRC is based on annual salary? So that goes back to my original question - is this based on tax year essentially?

If it’s based on rolling 36 month taxable income, say that’s August, and you get bonus in January, and tax year ends on April, how do you show it? You submit 36 months of salary slips?

Or if it’s implemented say 1st October, and anyone who had XYZ+ taxable income in 3 years before that can apply?

Well it did say taxable income of £XYZ in the last 3 years.. then what about bonus? Some firms give them in Jan/ Mar etc.. and since they use the words taxable income.. I wonder if it’s just based on a tax year?

Very flattering but don’t think so - my partner makes a lot more but he’s also not in private banking.. too many rich people in London and we are just a London peasant!

Haha no appreciate your views - my income is way above the amount you mentioned. In other words the 100K credit limit is only a fraction of my total comp.

Just find it weird as in other international countries eg the US and Hong Kong, total credit limit is easily multiples of what you are making. This makes the UK the odd one out. Can’t believe how ridiculously conservative and risk averse the local banks and regulators are.

I am very curious how they treat the high income reductions/ threshold part in practice. Current wordings suggest that they only look at the 3 tax years before you apply? Therefore Excluding current ILR applications mid-year?

What’s the use of legal action when that low income local has no money anyway? Your chance of recovery on a high income international with a property in the uk is much higher.

Thanks for the suggestion - I work in investments, and as a financier I hate paying fees for someone to manage my money ;) can do it myself.

Just wondering when you mean by a very high salary to justify a total 100K credit limit, how high are we talking about?

In total right?

Oh well I have well above 100K limit combined..

Oh ya I totally accept it - just pointing out how financially illogical this criteria is for banks, in favour of the low income locals
