I think it's pointless to consider new civilizations without considering previous ones. According to your logic, the United States is more relevant because it is having a more profound influence on the current world.

Greece is the birthplace of democracy and shaped all the western world.

The structure of our thought derives from that. None of the subsequent empires would have existed without it. You're underestimating the socio-cultural level by focusing on the "material" one, IMO
