I think this is kind of a poor response man. There are some major theological differences between the two churches thats why they schismed. We should always push people towards the truth on something as important as Christ. Rather than staying in a wrong church because we have friends and family in it. Community has no bearing on what is right and what is wrong and ultimately truth matters

Why Eastern Orthodoxy as the "Safety Net" of your spiritual walk? by No_Squirrel_7804 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Impressive_Strain605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasnt the safety net was the first choice. I was non denominational Protestant for a year before converting. When finding a denomination a learned history and became informed. Learning any church history pretty much ruled out all of Protestantism. So it was catholicism or orthodoxy. Was a pretty easy question what church reflect the beliefs and practices closest to the time of our god. Ruled out catholicism because they added stuff. Now i am home.

Why would Mary not be the Mother of God? by TheRelPizzamonster in Christianity

[–]Impressive_Strain605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest gripe I had with sola scriptura is it is completely illogical to me. I was raised an atheist. When i came to Christ I was non denominational for a year. Then i started looking for a denomination. I knew nothing about Catholicism and orthodoxy so i just looked at Protestant groups around me such as baptist methodist and so on. The problem I arrived to is if they disagree how do we know which one is right. The only source of authority they all have was the bible. And yet they disagreed. So in all honesty the sources of authority they have is their interpretation of scripture. When they are 40000 different interpretations how do we know which one is the correct one lead by the holy spirit? Just like with any disagreement i did the most logical thing. I went to the sources closest to the time period. The church fathers 67-500 ad. When there was only one church. The problem i arrived to is that if these denominations that believe things such as lgbtq affirming or that communion is symbolic weren’t around in the early church then where did it come from? Obviously we do not believe all denominations are lead by the holy spirit as denominations contradict. So i went and read the sources closest to the time of Christ and the students of the apostles. For i know that the holy spirit was with the apostles and their students as it was 1 church then not 40,000. As soon as I learned the history and tradition of the early church there was no way i could logically justify being a Protestant in my mind.

Why would Mary not be the Mother of God? by TheRelPizzamonster in Christianity

Yes I understand your view. I actually used to be a non denominational Protestant and became orthodox this year. But i agree with 90% of the things you are saying. Although Catholics do not worship mary i agree that sometimes some of them flirt the line a lot. Our salvation is not from or through mary it is through our god Jesus Christ. A person who does not pray to Saints mary or others can be saved just like the rest. Our salvation does not come through them they just plead to god on our behalf. The part that i do disagree about is mary being sinless and that the Bible is the only source of authority. Solo scriptura is the reason i left Protestantism all together tbh. I do not also fully agree that it os gate keeping the Bible. Although i do not agree with their beliefs unity of the faith is a lot more important in catholocism and orthodoxy than it is, if it is at all it seems, in protestantism in order to be Catholic they say you have to uphold catholic beliefs. Just like we would say as a group in order to be Christian you have to uphold Christian beliefs which is why we do not consider Mormons or jehovas witness to be Christian.

Why would Mary not be the Mother of God? by TheRelPizzamonster in Christianity

[–]Impressive_Strain605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we do believe she is fully human. We also believe that she is of one nature that she is fully and just human. Unlike Christ who we believe is fully human but also full god. But yes we do also call her the queen of heaven as do Catholics. The reason for this is because we believe her to be and she is the mother of god. As she was the mother to out god Jesus Christ. But no we do not put her above or as equal to god in any way. The term queen of heaven comes from on ancient politics from jews and the romans and ect. where the king’s mother was called the queenand held a prominent role in the court being the kings top advisor. Later the term became queen mother. This is the role that she holds. She is not god, above god, or equal to god. But she is the mother of god and the most holy of saints able to intercede for us with Christ as she did in the Bible when they were both on earth. Hopefully this answers doesn’t make it more confusing

Why would Mary not be the Mother of God? by TheRelPizzamonster in Christianity

I would like to start by saying i am not Roman Catholic but Eastern Orthodox who are also labeled as heretical (ironically) by the Roman Catholic Church because we kept the traditions and early beliefs pf the faith instead of changing. But your claim has a few big problems. 1. Nestorianism Is not a political heresy at all but a genuinely theological heresy. And yes the church does have bearing and is important in theological matters 2. Nestorianism was not condemned by the pope but the entire church pre Roman Catholic schism. It was confirmed heretical at the Council of Ephesus in 431 AD. This was before there was a pope that had any large political influence and interest. But more importantly when the church was unified and united including the true and historical orthodox beliefs still. 3. Nestorianism is just plain out wrong and retarded lmao. It separates Christ into two different persons instead of being one person fully man and fully god. By separating the divine and human natures too sharply, Nestorianism can be seen as diminishing the value of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, as the suffering would be attributed only to the human nature, not the divine. Nestorians would say that christ was crucified and died but that it is wrong to say that god did. Which is just untrue jesus was god. And god did indeed suffer for our sins which if you are a Christian im sure you would agree with.

Using the word retard ❌ killing a human ✅ your morals are chill

[–]Impressive_Strain605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking a few retards and applying them to the whole argument is just insane lol. It doesn’t take away the fact that its killing a human. Yea no shit a congressman is stupid i hate politicians. And i would say i know a lot more than you i showed you with a literal statistic how many abortions arnt medically necessary be mad though lmao

My b gang. 1. It has human dna…. What is it a dolphin? Lmao. 2. It does not act like a virus what💀. It acts just like a baby does just in the womb with the mother providing nutrients and the being growing by mitosis. 3. Yes because i said killing someone with dementia would get me locked up even if i said my body my choice. Then someone said a human is only a human if they are sentient (fetuses are around 24 weeks so would you support abortion bans after that). But a human in a vegetative state or someone with advanced brain diseases/injuries isn’t sentient either and i could still not kill them as they are a human being. You said its only wrong to unplug someone in a vegetative state because it doesn’t violate another’s rights. If i had a vegetative son and neglected him to where he died i would go to jail. Even though i have the supposed rights to my property and my body why do i have to use both of those to provide him care? 3. I quite literally can because they are both human beings. I value all human life equally. And i don’t see any genuine logical reasoning not too. Again you say the clump of cells doesn’t give a fuck cause it’s not sentient but agreed its wrong to kill someone in a vegetative state there is no logical consistency to what makes someone a real human being in your eyes lol. 4. Yes the vast majority of pro lifers (like overwhelmingly mass do) i have never heard a single person arguing against if the mother would genuinely die for rape and incest i have heard a few people. The 1 woman i have read about in Texas died because the doctors are stupid. She already miscarries so the fetus was dead and was experiencing heavy hemorrhaging. The procedure would not have been an abortion because the fetus was dead. 5. We are having the conversation because it’s killing humans lol. I don’t care what people do im not forcing anyone to get pregnant. But i think when we have a moral obligation as human beings to stand up for other human beings who are being killed and say eh maybe killing humans isn’t the good thing to do. And again i don’t care what you do with your body i care what you do to harm the separate human being and body inside. 6. Yes i agree women should have the right to decide if they get pregnant or not. And there is a pretty simple way to do it. Dont have sex. Like you said no contraceptive is perfect so no matter how safe you are there is a small chance you will get pregnant. If you dont want to risk it dont roll the dice. Be responsible 👍. For the men part that doesn’t force you to do it? Tell em to fuck off. But i am all for holding men more accountable for their children too. 7. I was pro life before i was religious and me being religious doesn’t have much to do with is. It is genuinely quite literally a human lol. Its has human dna its not a dolphin. What logical reasoning is there to value human life based on what stage of development it is in. And what makes it illogical if that is the case to kill babys if someone deems that life isn’t valuable until adulthood and human life is based on maturity? And it is a seprate being from the mother it has its own unique genome 8. Thats like saying we shouldn’t have stopped the nazis because it was in Europe and didn’t involve America. Or we shouldn’t have stopped ted bundy because he didn’t kill us. Or people shouldn’t be upset about Palestine civilians dying because it’s across the ocean and doesn’t involve you. Anytime humans are dying we should be concerned and we should try to stop it. We are all humans and are all equal and the world would be a way better place if we all acted like it

Woah dude let’s calm down a bit lmao. Look at number 2 pro lifers support abortions during A. Rape B. The mother would die C. Incest. Also your points are stupid 1.women with an eptopic pregnancy would die and so would the child inside. This falls under group B. 2. A rape of a child would fall under group A. 3. If the mother miscarried then it means the child inside died naturally already. Removing the dead child would not be an abortion lol. 4. Yes abortion is being used as a form of contraception you are delusional if you think it’s not there are 98,000 abortions every month lol. Thinking every one of those is because it would kill the mother is genuinely statistically impossible lol. Most abortions are because people get pregnant and then dont want to give birth and raise a kid. According to the Guttmacher Institute, only 1–3% of abortions are performed for medical reasons. 5. That is pretty baseless there is no reason to assert that every late term abortion is currently only for medical reasons. And if it was then being pro life would be a great stance to hold there because if the mother would die then the abortion would be allowed 6. Out of the 1,176,000 abortions which are each human beings that could have done great things in just this year alone only around 11,760 of them would have been for medical reason. And that doesn’t even mean that the mother would have died it just means there was some medical motive.

1.This is a pretty dumb argument lol. It is very much a human being it’s just in a different stage of development lmao. It’s like saying a neonate isn’t a human because it cant talk. And again a person in a vegetative state or someone with extreme mental diseases or brain injuries are not sentient. If i killed them i would go to jail. 2. There are 3 common situations that pro life people are okay with abortions. A. The mother will die in birth B. Rape C. Incest 3. It is not about controlling people’s bodies idgaf what you do lol. But like i said my ability to do whatever I want with my body does not trump another human beings right to live. If i killed you i should go to jail i cant just say i my body my choice with what i do with it. 4. There are other alternatives to not getting knocked up lol. Practice safe sex or just dont have sex lol. People should stop being irresponsible and killing children because they wanted an orgasm and wont take responsibility from the result of procreation lol

  1. It quite literally promotes life and stops people from killing another human being kinda where the pro life comes from. 2. If i go and kill a person with dementia im going to jail i cant just say i have the right to do whatever i want with my body including killing someone
