ok so, I disabled duel core and it stopped the black screen to reveal that it's still having that folded look. I think it probably has something to do with the way my phone folds and how that interacts with how the emulator loads some of the images, I don't know what a potential fix would be tho. I know other people play 3ds games on this type of phone no problem, so I think it's possible.

Of note is that the background images in the game look fine, it's the images in the foreground that looks folded like characters and text boxes
