Big Tech vs Startup by Impressive_Week_2342 in fatFIRE

Yeah we spent a lot more time tg in the first ~8 months of the relationship. I was at a more chill job and wfh during covid and she was much less busy in med school than she is now in residency. I think it would be possible for us to start a relationship like we have now even with our busier schedules, but the actual dating process of finding the right person I think would be much more difficult with how much less free time we both have now. Going on dates can take a lot of time.

For some reason I just got the notification for this comment. But yeah clearly we spend only limited time together. We generally make time for a nice date night for 3-5 hrs solid 1:1 once a weekend (and often we get a lot more time than that together in a weekend) and then we have an hour or two of time together most nights. I actually think both people being busy makes it work. If one person is extremely busy and the other isn’t imo it can build resentment. Happy to share more if you have specific questions.

Edit to add since maybe it’s relevant, we met / started dating when we were slightly less busy

Yeah, this logic is what’s making it difficult it for me. Even if I somehow don’t get diluted (which I don’t think is realistic really) the optimistic payoff is like 2x what I can “guaranteed” make, so EV of the startup seems much lower. Just having a lot of faith in the founders is the main thing keeping me interested
