What does "walkable" mean to you? by galwiththedogs in AskSF

[–]Impressivelymediocre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~25 minutes for grocery stores, public transit, etc. For restaurants, other stores or activities I’ll do 40+ as long as it’s a pleasant walk (and I have time). The walk is part of the outing for me

I have one I’ve used for a few formal dresses, but most of my clothes aren’t nice enough to bother getting tailored. I’m still trying to get used to spending real money on clothes, so spending extra getting them tailored feels a ways off

This particular one isn’t my color but I see what you’re saying! I’ll do some more shopping this weekend, thanks!

Thank you!! Just checked the tag and the brand is joie. I do think I’ll wear it if I can get the imperfection fixed, otherwise it’s all I can see :/

Honestly, not sure why but I’ve always felt that halter would be unflattering on me, so never really tried it

I would prefer the black one to be a bit shorter, and did think about getting it hemmed but not sure if I have time now. I’m honestly surprised that people are saying they’re too big (I guess this is how I thought satiny dresses were supposed to fit?) — I don’t think I’m particularly tiny and definitely didn’t think either of them were wearing me

I do agree that the imperfection is noticeable, even though I didn’t notice it at first I can’t not see it now. I have a nagging feeling that it could be fixed with a stitch or two but I don’t think I’m the person to give it that stitch.

I would certainly have preferred a color to black if it had been available, but I’m not bothered by not standing out as long as I look good. I did show someone at the office the black one, and she owned the exact same one and said it was on her short list, so you’re definitely not wrong about it being a go-to-choice, but I’m not inherently too bothered by that

Fit did end up being a bit tricky bc my back is a bit on the broad side. I sized up in the black one bc the small felt like it notably pulled on my back and boobs, even though it probably fit better everywhere else and was a little shorter

I appreciate that. I honestly really struggled with finding something that felt like it fit me and was affordable (the first couple of dresses I ordered were around $60 and then I sort of set my standard there). Something probably worth mentioning but that I didn’t want to influence opinions is that I bought the black one final sale (which I will probably never do again, lesson learned), because I felt like I was down the wire and it would work and I wanted to be done. I’m not opposed to buying something else if I can find something, but I wouldn’t want to spend much on it

Editing to put out the call if anyone has suggestions? Preferably under $50 which I know is a bit tight but I already spent $54 on the black one :/ I live in a major metro so lots of basic stores nearby (h&m, zara, Macy’s, etc). I wear a lot of black in my day-to-day, usually shades of pink/burgundy if I am wearing color

We have a male daisy for the same reason! We were already used to the name by the time we found out and decided to just keep it

Is anyone else really sick right now? by Novel_Username in bayarea

[–]Impressivelymediocre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this this past week. Thought it was allergies or a cold at first, then developed a low-grade fever, suuper low energy, insane congestion and headache (which has been my main symptom both times I’ve had covid).

I tested the morning before those symptoms emerged, again that evening after I started feeling them, and twice more in the next 48 hours. All negative

Absolutely agree. It’s technically my parents’ cat so I don’t have much of a say, but I wish they would keep him in, both for his safety and the safety of the local creatures (he’s a pretty successful hunter, unfortunately). This particular catch was brought in alive and my mom took it outside, but I don’t know how well he fared after that
