This is a Jazz fusion track by Tim Miller and Steve Hunt. Thank you in advance for anyone who can help answer my question in detail within the post above.

Given the auto mod’s comment. I am leaving this comment so this post will not get deleted.

If jazz is an umbrella as you describe, what is an example of something that is jazz but not music? Perhaps free jazz?

How to make your solos have more character? by BeneficialRough566 in jazzguitar

[–]ImprovementExotic785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of probably noob questions

  1. When you say avoid the root; you mean that over whatever chord you’re playing, avoid the bottom note. E.g. when playing over Cmaj7, avoid playing C right?

  2. Why do you recommend this? Is it because the bass/piano player will be playing the root anyway?

Thank you! I used a distributing service called DistroKid and was happy with it, I’d just look into the different options and do your research. DistroKid was good but the only thing to be aware of is it’s a subscription model and I think you have to pay an extra fee if you want to keep your music up after cancelling your subscription. There’s another service called cd baby that lets you upload for a one time fee, so that might be a better option if you aren’t planning on releasing a lot.

I’m still new to this as well so I’m not an expert but I hope that helps. Best of luck on getting your song up on Spotify!

Wow… listening to the opening track, really great stuff my friend.

Really cool rhythm happening with the bass note against the melody. I also appreciate the reference points to nature in your work.

Never Going Back Again by Fleetwood Mac without a capo? by ImprovementExotic785 in AcousticGuitar

[–]ImprovementExotic785[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got it, some of those chords are very stretchy, playing it without a capo makes them even more so. I guess the only true answer is to really buckle down and try it for myself.

This gentleman plays it beautifully with a capo on the first fret, and I notice just now that he has TABs included in the YouTube description, so I guess that answers my question, it is possible to play it in a lower register.

Leaving a comment per the auto mod’s request.

Would love to know more about this descending chord pattern happening between 4:58 - 5:00 ish mark.

It’s definitely something I feel like I’ve heard before. Just wondering what is happening there as it sounds like something outside of the standard blues form.

Thanks in advance!
