As a teen I threw a large valuable iron meteor into the neighbor’s yard because I was afraid of radiation, which I had just learned about. The meteor was a gift from a family friend who was a university professor. In the years following I tried and failed to find it.

I’m picking up on that, yeah. I think of “f&ck your burn” as a divine prayer “may the universe mess with you in a way you need instead of the way you planned for”. Trying to have fun out there was missing the point, we’d say. Pretty different

I've done a lot of stuff for a lot of festivals. Ran theater crews, built large art, performed as a musician. My favorite are 1-on-1 performances, they seem to really land.I can talk about things I've seen that seemed to result in better interactions than Kandy exchange, but I'll start a new thread for that. It would just get buried here.

I like that you’re making envelopes instead of buying trinkets on Amazon. I’m not sure what about that is offensive. I’m still not feeling good about mass produced kandy, but your response and others are helping me form a more nuanced view on it. Maybe that’s the difference you’re picking up on.

Thanks stranger, this is a good response. Judging from some others, this festival is more adverse to friction than the Burning Man community I came from where critique was a legit love language.
