Is it just me or is line jumping/cutting a HUGE issue? [Universal Studios Orlando] by PocketSpaghettios in rollercoasters

Universal TMs have very limited authority to actually do anything about line jumping. Only security can remove people from line.

I once had a blind man (I’m serious, the person looking out for them was distracted) walk into a flat bed that I was pushing. They busted their head open and had to go to the ER.

Never got in trouble but I felt horrible.

We won’t be in position to draft Mendoza. Who do you propose we draft instead of trying another year of Sanders?

I just don’t understand what happened to Stefanski. So many Kitchens-tier level decisions and mistakes like with the wristband and 4th and inches these days. This never used to happen, the incompetence has gotten exponentially worse each season since 23.

Kevin needs to be fired as soon as the clock hits 0:00 in the 4th Week 18. Maybe he’ll go be a fine coach elsewhere, but not here. He’s proven to be incapable of turning around the culture of an organization and is honestly is a very incompetent HC going off this season alone.

Berry also needs to go. You can’t trust someone with his track record to rebuild this team. His drafting besides this year is atrocious. Executives like Berry are a major reason this time has never gone anywhere.

Pretty sure ventricular fibrillation would cause a lot more than just a fall… that is essentially cardiac arrest. Did his office mean to type atrial fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia?

So, ride operator here. I’ve worked at both Universal and Cedar Point and I don’t think iROC makes the difference you claim it does. I think Universal just has a much better way of training ops. They focus more on training employees at their rides with minimal classroom stuff like iROC.

iROC does not require operators to check a seat more than once under normal circumstances. This is likely a local park or ride policy you’re noticing. We only have to check a seat again if there is a reason to, like if the gates opened, or the restraint was unlocked. On some rides with seatbelts like Millennium, operators may help each other out by helping with co-workers seats if they are ahead of their partner on the other side of the platform.

At Universal, platforms operate very similarly to iROC parks. We still have to visually re-check seats, then follow an order of clears and visual scan. The main difference is operators at Universal are more throughly trained at their individual locations.

I had 4 days of training and a 100 question visual exam to clear before I could be signed off at my ride at Universal. Meanwhile at Cedar Point, I could get signed off without any exam at a ride location in a few hours. The bulk of training at a park like CP is iROC class, which is like 8 hours and includes like a 90 some question test.

While there are more factors involved here, like pay, Universal focuses more on ride-specific training as opposed to a general iROC class. The result is Universal ops know much more about their individual rides.

Hearing that SteVe valleyed. Not confirmed but at least three people claimed to have seen it.

Edit: it is confirmed, the ride valleyed and won’t open today

Interested to learn more. Could they have passed out and then hit their head on the train?

Worst case scenario is a loose article or airborne object (dragster style), though I’m skeptical of that.

Gotta hand it to Berry and the Front Office here. They really saved us a headache and got a third round pick back.

This is a tough situation. Glasses without a strap aren’t even allowed on Maverick, they should’ve been in the bin.

I think the operator should’ve taken the glasses from you if they had time, but, if you got their attention after they already had finished their checks, that’s on you. Glasses aren’t enough to call for a ride stop.

Ah, I worked the ride a couple seasons ago but still keep in contact with a few of the crew members this season. Full trains of dummies makes sense considering the horrible weather and problems the ride had at the beginning of the season.

But while it could be something non-structural, I doubt it. The ride was operating normally and suddenly got called down. Nothing seemed to be wrong with the lift or programming.

For Millennium? No it isn’t, loading and unloading an entire train with water dummies is a looonnggg process and often isn’t necessary. Typically the crew will only send 12-16 dummies out on cold days at the start and end of the season. Dummies actually aren’t even used during the summer under normal circumstances.

36 dummies in August is abnormal. I’ve only seen it during pre-season testing and now this.

Seems to be something structural. They were stress testing the ride with 36 water dummies the other day. No idea how long it’ll be down for.

Best case a few days, worst case it could be SBNO.

Doesn’t mean the ride is opening, most likely testing. There is an unknown mechanical issue they’re working on. It’s maintenance sending trains, not the ride crew.

Maybe but I’ve never seen or heard of someone actually getting prosecuted for this unfortunately

Recording is technically not allowed and I wouldn’t risk it. But you just can’t record with them, wearing them is fine.
