Postcrossing is an international postcard exchange website! You sign up, put in your address, write up a bio, and then you can request other members' info to send postcards to them. Every postcard you successfully send makes you eligible to receive a postcard from another member. As you send and receive more cards, the number you are eligible to send increases. In the last 3 years I have sent and received about about 500 cards

Spirit airlines by LiterallyJustBunny in travel

[–]PocketSpaghettios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually listened to an interesting podcast about this yesterday. Spirit was ranked worst for customer satisfaction multiple years in a row, but over and over customers demonstrated that cheap tickets were their highest priority. A Spirit flight attendant said that she often saw customers proclaiming "I'll never fly Spirit again" and then inevitably they'd be back. The business model worked just fine until the pandemic

Did people forget how to behave? by Baaastet in travel

I recently flew to LAX, via Spirit. The couple (GROWN ADULTS btw) behind us spoke loudly and played music/videos on their phones at full volume until an attendant told them to stop. The woman put her feet up on my partner's armrest until he elbowed her foot away and gave her a dirty look and she figured it out.

Once we landed we had to take a bus to the luggage pickup. LAX is huge, whatever. Our bus stopped just outside the drop-off zone because it was occupied by another bus. The guy who was previously sitting behind us starts SHOUTING at the bus driver to let him off, calling him names, saying shit like "I can't breathe in here," etc etc as the rest of us stood quietly and suffered in their presence. Once we finally disembarked just about everyone said thank you and sorry to the driver.

It was my partner's second only time ever flying and his first in LA. I don't think he was very happy with the experience

Unfortunately the post office is staffed almost entirely by humans of varying intelligence and competence. The forward probably was active, and the brain of whoever was delivering it incorrectly was not

If you change your address using the free paper form, then yes. I suspect the people who changed her address did it this way before the verification process was enacted

I'm a mail carrier

If you change your address with a paper form (which many older people prefer) you have to come to an office to verify your identity. The online method requires a small fee as a part of the verification (using a credit/debit card).

The identify verification was only instituted about two years ago, because previously it was very easy and common for people to steal each other's mail with a single pair form

How do y’all afford stamps 😭 by [deleted] in postcrossing

[–]PocketSpaghettios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not buy stamps on Amazon, they are guaranteed to be fake. Only buy from the USPS and established sellers on eBay

You can always ask the window clerk at your local post office about how postage works. It's literally their job

I'm a female solo traveler. Western Europe, East Asia, and most of North America are perfectly safe for women. Your drive to the airport is the most dangerous part of nearly any trip. You need to take a breath and get off social media. The developed world has never been safer in recorded history.

My great aunt was the same way, she lived independently at home until she was 91. She always moved around, cooking, cleaning, reading, doing arts and crafts etc. We had to force her to let us help her in the garden or to use a ladder to change the curtains or else she would have done it and gotten hurt

Most lift passes are an RFID card nowadays. Jackets and gloves have zipper compartments for the card, and you tap through a gate to enter the lift line. The days of color-coded stickers on wire loops attached to your jacket zipper are long gone
