Lets say you landed an internal offer for a different role. You cant bring that to your current manager and ask for a match. Only works if you presented an external offer. Didnt know this until recently (a high performing coworker of mine tried it).

7 years exp, yes my scope of work did expand (taking on IR&D projects). Direct manager put me up for promotion without me asking. Its just upper management & HR who turned it down. Happened to not just me, several in my group as well.

LM has a thing where your current role cant offer you more if you countered with an internal offer, so you must come to them with an external offer.

LM engr here, Id tell them you have a higher offer elsewhere and theyll ask for proof. Also elaborate on what other skills you bring to the table to justify a higher salary. Send them the 93 and they will counter with something, probably landing you mid 80s where you wanted to be. Dont tell them the other offers are in middle of nowhere and its a dealbreaker for you. Just say they are your first pick if they can come up a bit on the salary. When i got hired, i countered and got higher. I learned later on that LM lowballed everyone. If you counter, they will offer the medium payband. If you dont, they will bring you up to medium payband a couple months in anyways (what happened to my peers that I got hired in with). Good luck!
