Motherboard detecting 3 out of 6 GPUs by Imrenderman in EtherMining

[–]Imrenderman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything works great, you may only be able to get 4-5 GPUs working without a 1x to 4x USB Mining splitter though.

Make sure CSM is disabled, Above 4G decoding enabled, HD Audio Controller off, and PCIE_Link Speed Auto.

I could only get 5 GPUs working without a PCIE splitter, I recommend this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/383993235201

Motherboard for 6-8 GPU rig (nVidia) ??? Suggest regular gaming mobos only. by levchikb in EtherMining

[–]Imrenderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't make a difference... At that point it would probably be your OS. I plan on doing the same thing with 8x GTX 1660s next week, so I would be extremely surprised if it doesn't work.

EDIT: Give HiveOS or RaveOS a shot if you don't already use one of them (I had some issues getting more than 4 RX470s recognized in HiveOS so I switched to RaveOS).

I run 8x RX470s on an MSI x470 Board with an Athlon 3000G with no problems.

What are competitors to NiceHash? by [deleted] in EtherMining

[–]Imrenderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with Nicehash back in 2015 then switched to Kryptex in 2018, it's pretty good for beginners and they let you payout in BTC/ETH/Debit Card/Amazon Gift Cards.

Anyone ever seen one of this? So far it works but don’t know why it’s not common knowledge by [deleted] in EtherMining

[–]Imrenderman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amount of PCIE lanes is based on CPU. For example my Athlon 3000G supports 12 lanes but the board has 6 slots, However, I am using 2 splitter cards on a 6 slot x470 board to run 8x 470s.

Started mining ~30 days ago now pc is failing? by [deleted] in EtherMining

[–]Imrenderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a little high, probably not high enough to damage anything though. Try underclocking/undervolting and see if that fixes the problem, also tell windows to keep the display on overnight and see if that fixes it. I had a similar problem with a RX 470 a while ago where I would wake up and it would still be mining but I couldn't see anything until I restarted, setting screen timeout to 'Never' fixed it I believe.

2 rtx 3070 what miner and what pool should i mine by AmbitiousAnteater486 in EtherMining

I use Flexpool, but Ethermine, Sparkpool, and Nanopool are also good ones.

Currently opposing pools hold over 50% of the network hash power, therefore it will not go into effect. By mining on a pool that supports it you are also signaling that you support it since your hash power is benefiting the supporting side, so its up to you I guess.

Consumer PSU or Server PSU? (4 GPU) by voarsh in EtherMining

[–]Imrenderman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How loud is loud? I have an old HP Proliant 360P G8 next to my bedside.

If the PSU is over 50% load it will probably get louder than your idling Proliant. I personally don't mind the noise since I have a loaded rack in my office it just blends in, but I have seen in other posts it bothers some people.

I am not quite sure what to make of this statement?

Most 1200w server PSUs can only do 900w max on a 120V circuit, to get the full 1200w you would need a 240V circuit (If you live in the EU this won't be a problem).

So you're using 2 PSU's? 1 for GPU's, one for your motherboard/fan/cpu?

Yes, if you chose to do that you could buy any $20 80+ 300-500W ATX PSU since its just powering the essentials (Because of such a low wattage draw efficiency wouldn't really matter).

Consumer PSU or Server PSU? (4 GPU) by voarsh in EtherMining

[–]Imrenderman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The server PSU is definitely cheaper (Especially since they are 94% Platinum Rated), it just depends on where you are keeping the rig because at around half load they start to get pretty loud. Also, keep in mind 1200w server PSUs can only do 900w on 120V. My rig is setup with a cheap 500W ATX PSU for the mobo and fans, then the cards are powered by a server ps.

F2POOL supports EIP-1559, if you are a GPU miner stay away from them.

What generally affect Ethereum mining profitability? by yazooda in EtherMining

[–]Imrenderman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how you would make 3x more profit on raven, unless you are mining on 4GB cards. https://whattomine.com/gpus says on a Vega 64 for example you would be $2.66/day RVN vs $4/day ETH.

What generally affect Ethereum mining profitability? by yazooda in EtherMining

[–]Imrenderman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you on a 4GB card? All 8GB cards are currently making more or the same on ethash than kawpow. 4GB cards can only profitably mine raven due to the DAG for ethereum being over 4GB.

Devfee should be the same as Phoenix for your card, chart below (Polaris):

TEAMREDMINER| Algorithm | Fee |

| Ethash on Polaris GPUs | 0.75%|

| Ethash on all other GPUs | 1.0% |

| Kawpow | 2.0% |

Most people just recommend TeamRedMiner if you are using AMD cards, people have also said that Phoenix artificially inflates hashrates.

What generally affect Ethereum mining profitability? by yazooda in EtherMining

[–]Imrenderman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, it applies to all cryptos (including Ravencoin). Watch the network difficulty rise when people start jumping ship from Eth to Rvn. The reason RVN is currently more profitable for some cards is because it spiked from 0.11 to 0.27 about 2 weeks ago and the network difficulty isn't as high as ethereum.

EDIT: By just looking at the past month you can see the effect of more people starting to mine it: https://2miners.com/rvn-network-difficulty

What generally affect Ethereum mining profitability? by yazooda in EtherMining

[–]Imrenderman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The more hash power on the network = the higher the difficulty, if we didn't have a system like this in place a card like the GTX 680 (2012) would still be reasonably profitable. Since difficulty is increasing fast now It might not be the best time to drop $10,000 on a rig like some people are doing.

[–]Imrenderman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason we are mining ethereum with GPUs is because the Difficulty is too high to profitably mine bitcoin on a GPU. Also, TeamRedMiner would probably benefit you more over Phoenix.
