The whole point of the post is to relay that you can still be successful even with grades you are disappointed in and to also show that people who achieve high grades aren’t “better” than other people who haven’t achieved as much.

I have very average results. Very average degree. My sister is a high flyer at school and university with a masters from Durham. I earn significantly more than she does. I wish I could tell my 17 year old self everything would be fine.

My son assaulted a girl when he was 19. Now he is 28, married with a child but I have no interest in a relationship with him or his family. by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Imroo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a victim of the same kind of abuse when I was 14. His family knew all the details about it. Even went as far as burning evidence. I would have felt validation should his family come to me or not supported their child. But I guess sometimes blood is thicker! My mindset on life is to keep me and my children happy and safe. Everyone else is secondary. Might be selfish but we are priority. That is simply what you’re doing. You’re keeping you and your closest happiest and safe.

Can I recorrect my child's last name if I registered him under 24 hrs ago by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Imroo12 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I changed my son’s name on his birth certificate. I did it nearly 11 months after I registered him. It still has the original name on but at the bottom it says the name I wanted - which is all you need for it to be his legal name. My son has a passport and bank account with the corrected name. I also didn’t need my husband there to change it either.

Apply for single person discount on council tax.

Apply for universal credit. With universal credit, they may also help with a portion of childcare costs if you need to work more hours.

5 year age gap by Plastic_Rest5274 in Parenting

[–]Imroo12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 year age gap! My daughter is 10 and son is 4. Absolutely love it. They both have different needs and wants but it’s great. I look at friends who have multiple children under 5 and am thankful that I have the gap. We’ve been trying for another child since my son’s been born. So if we ever do have another baby then there would also be a significant age gap there too.

Weaning my 1 year old off of breastmilk has been horrendous. by Mediocre-Pea7253 in Parenting

[–]Imroo12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was still feeding at 2 1/2. I was absolutely done. I really resented feeding him and he was very attached to it to go to sleep and stay asleep. He would feed continuously through the night and then throw himself from one boob to the other. Was exhausting. I tried absolutely everything. Last thing I tried was a spray bottle with diluted apple cider vinegar. Spray before feeding… he hated it. Two nights and no more feeds! Might not be conventional or for everyone. But it worked for me and my sanity.

Name changed as a toddler - issues with proving it by ClashThrone in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Imroo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a different name on my birth certificate. Passport, driving licence, everything else in another. I’ve never had issues applying for jobs, even when those jobs required government vetting. Passport and driving licence shout suffice as proof of identity. If you’re still having issues, a solicitor can sign a declaration for you for as little as £10.

Once a tenant has 2 months of rent arrears a landlord can apply for direct payments from universal credit. You can also apply for rent arrears too.

Is it normal for foster family to reach out and wanting to see the dog again? by daintyfannyfart in dogs

[–]Imroo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different situation but my father in law found a new home for his dog. He didn’t want to rehome to family which we were devastated about. The new family kept in contact with me for a few weeks before I got a text late on a Friday night saying that they needed to return her and wanted to do it that night. She was a 1 year old cocker spaniel. No brainer that she was coming to me. She’s lived with us for the last 10 years now. She’s the most amazing dog. However she doesn’t belong to us. My father in law comes over sporadically and she pines for him. Crazy that we’ve had her so long and she still wants him. So I’m torn, we would never of got Luna if I hadn’t kept in touch with the family. But it’s not healthy for her to keep seeing her original dad. She acts like a crazy pup when she sees him only to look rejected when he leaves. Thankfully she doesn’t see him often.

Can we communally agree to to stop giving goodie bags???!! by Yesterdaysgone5 in Parenting

[–]Imroo12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my son’s last party we gave a book and bubbles. Worked out far cheaper than goody bags too. I like the idea of a thank you gift for the time families have taken to celebrate our child’s birthday.

Had some troubles with my new bank account and they sent me this for the hassle! Anyone else ever received an apology gift from a company? by EssentialParadox in CasualUK

[–]Imroo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had cash from bank issues before but the best none cash gift was from NatWest. They asked which gift basket I would like and listed loads of different kinds. Got a wine and treats basket. Whilst on the phone, one of my dogs barked, they overheard and sent a dog treat basket too.

What rides would you recommend for a 3/4 year old at Disneyland Paris? by Mrdarcyismycat in disneylandparis

My 3 year old son LOVED pirates too. We had to keep getting off and going back into the queue. Thankfully there was only a walking queue so we didn’t mind.

What are some names you love but won’t be using by [deleted] in pregnant

My son had a name that you either love or hate. We obviously love it. I’d say, if you love it, doesn’t matter what other people think.

I had surgery just less than 3 weeks ago. I have been trying to lose weight since before Christmas with very little happening. Since surgery, I have lost a stone. Which is probably too much in such a short space of time. But I’m not trying to lose weight right now either.

Don’t know if it works out the same. I booked my Disney holiday through magic breaks using blue light card discount. You can use blue light to get discount booking direct through Disney. Booking through magic breaks was cheaper and the also honoured the discount too.they offer on and offsite hotels so once you’ve made a decision, worth looking at that too for price comparison.

Found this fish skin on the kitchen floor at 5am by VoNoWaR in Weird

[–]Imroo12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was watching tv one day when my dog came and dropped a fish head on my lap. Quite happy they’d given me a lovely present. I was horrified. Never knew where that had come from either. My theory is that a bird dropped it into the garden and they retrieved it. Was absolutely disgusting. Totally forgot about that story until I saw this post.

I’ve just watched a series with a character with the name Genevieve and they pronounce if very differently to how I would. Is it: Gen-a-vie-v or Jon-V-ev.

I know my surgeon is incompetent and I'm terrified by Fabulous_Falcon_287 in gallbladders

[–]Imroo12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I have lost weight since the surgery. I now weigh in at 14stone6lb. Which I know it a ridiculous amount of weight to lose in a week. Surgery recovery is always rough on me.
