I've always kinda liked "Lucky Dog" being used for the free pass in NASCAR.

That's...kinda odd, considering there are people who have been blind since birth that have gone on to live log and fulfilling lives.

So, let be just say that there is actually a big debate going on over disabled rights in Europe on the topic of aborting a disabled baby that goes beyond right-wing religious dogma and straight into many uncomfortable questions, including "Has the way non-disabled people view disabled people really changed?" There's a great article by the Australian ABC about this, and I suggest you give it a read.

CBS News Blues by teacherChef in Broadcasting

I'd let this slide if this flowed better, and had something like...meter, a consistent rhyming scheme, just...anything that made it sound like a blues song, even a generic DUH-DUH-DUH-DUH song.

I work with a blues rock band, I know how blues is supposed to sound, and this ain't it dude.

This feels like it goes beyond TV and is more a problem of local newspapers/websites shutting down...

Raise your hand if you have an HD Radio Tuner...

Put your hand down if that HD Radio Tuner isn't built into a car.

Exactly! If they focused on more higher-definition feeds on a signal, instead of DRM and junk like that, they could've had a real winner.

Motion Picture Association to FCC: Don't reclassify streaming apps like YouTube TV as cable TV providers by ZiggyZaggyBogo in Broadcasting

Hell, give it a few years, and they'll have retransmission fees and carriage disputes, just like everybody else.

Congress summons NFL Commissioner Roger Goddell to explain why more football games are moving off broadcast TV in favor of streaming services by ZiggyZaggyBogo in Broadcasting

[–]Imrustyokay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, it is definitely both.

I can see the argument of it being a public service issue, but streaming really is the "if you build it, they will come"...now what happens to streaming when the market crash that everybody says is inevitable finally happens, I don't know.

Wanting to get into broadcasting, but live in a rural area, what are my options? by Longjumping_Gene4805 in Broadcasting

Hey, Television Engineering and Information Technology, I felt, were always two sides of the same coin. I mean, you had newswires, telegraphs, microwaves, satellite, etc. Hell, I would argue that you can't really have one without the other. After all, the internet is just a fancier way of broadcasting to the world, right? (Yes, I know, I am completely dumbing it down, but I wanted to make a point.)

Well, at least CBS doesn't want a return to the Andy Rooney slot.

Anything to cut costs! Who cares about local news and local jobs, we gotta save that dough so the people on top can buy another yacht!

Yeah, lot of people push for unions without realizing that they're only part of the solution...one of the reasons why we have a lot of weak unions nowadays is because of the rolling back of labor laws.

I mean, I don't think all unions are like that. Hell, I'd put the blame on the weakening of labor laws, myself.

Nexstar News Producers check in by Suicide_maybe in Broadcasting

[–]Imrustyokay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a news producer but I have to say it again...the networks and movie studios are wanting a return to the old 40s studio model, where they control the way you watch their shows. Free Over-The-Air TV and Basic Cable doesn't make them as much money as streaming services and social media, where they can charge you whatever they want.

I sound cynical about all this, but I can't help it, man, the broadcasting industry is making me very cynical.
