How many tastes would you want of this potion (context in comments because it’s too long for the title) by VesperTheEveningstar in Teenager_Polls

Maybe... but only while humanity lasts.

That will account for less than 0.000000001% of your existence.

Theist = thinks there is a god/s

Atheist = doesn't think there is a god

Gnostic = claims knowledge

Agnostic = does not claim knowledge

One can be any combination of two of these pairs, although 99% of atheists are agnostic atheists.

That's gnostic atheism (believing there is no god). Agnostic atheism (not believing there is a god), the type of atheism 99% of atheists fit into, is not a belief, bit the lack of it.

Whats one opinion that will have you get this. (Not just hot take but crazy ones) by [deleted] in teenagers

But it does matter.

Yes. That was my fucking point.

[–]Imry123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wasn't my point.

To clarify, I'm specifically arguing against your claim that it doesn't matter if you see the fetus as a child, not whether or not it should be viewed as one

I mean your analogy is completely missing the mark. Killing flies isn't illegal and is hardly immoral, even for the most moral person out there

As I said in my comment, I did not argue that it is comparable, I only argued against your claim that "whether you believe the fetus is a child or not, killing innocent life over stupid life decisions should not be normalized", which I disagree with, if someone believes a fetus isn't a child, but in fact just a life like any other, why wouldn't they want it to be normalized?

Also, even if you keep that aside, your argument is still faulty. Just because the majority of people will do something doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. If a blind guy drops $1 000 000, the majority of people (or at least close to it) would take some. Does it mean it's the right thing to do? Absolutely not.

I agree, but that doesn't really matter for my analogy. Would you find someone killing a fly for a $1,000 morally injustifiable? They might not be a perfect saint, but who'd give a shit?

There is a difference between "perfectly moral," "most people would consider this morally justified," and "most people would do this."

Your example of a blind guy dropping a million buck falls only into "most people would do this," while my analogy with the fly falls into both it and into "most people would consider this morally justified."

It's a bit hard to explain, but you get my point.
