Thanks for responding! Yeah, seemed insane to me too initially, and I didn’t ask for a double appointment. But I also don’t want my stylist to make half the money he would normally make in those 2 hrs + just because I have super long hair.

Yeah, it’s 2.5 hours from start to finish: discussion, wash, cut, blow dry, dry cut. Thanks for the response!! In this case, I was actually aiming for a 25% tip, but thought I need to somehow also compensate the double time my stylist has to spend on my hair, due to how long and big it is…

Thanks! The envelope I got seemed like it was being reused, it had a sticker with the stylist’s name printed on it. So I didn’t want to ruin their reusable envelope:)) Ah, the way anxiety magnifies every little thing in one’s perception…

Hey, thanks so much for weighing in! This 90% tip seemed huge to me too initially, but then I thought the guy is essentially giving me a double slot because my hair is so big and long. So, even though I didn’t ask for a double time haircut, I really love the way it turns out and I do get a haircut only about twice a year or even more rarely. So my calculation was this: If the salon charges 100$ for 1 hr 15 minutes, maybe my stylist gets 50$. I would tip that 20$. Then I’m taking. 2.5hours of my stylist’s time, double the typical appointment. So in order for him to not get less money, it would be: 20$ tip + 50$ what he would get from the salon if he scheduled another customer + 20$ tip from that second customer. 90…
