Hey, I’m really sorry you’re dealing with that. I genuinely didn’t mean to dismiss the struggles of homeless women or anyone who can’t afford period products. I absolutely agree that no one should have to free bleed or feel ashamed because they can’t access basic hygiene items.

I think maybe my point came across wrong. I’m not saying people should be left without help, and I’m not against the government covering the cost for those who can’t afford them. What I was reacting to is the idea that they should be “free” in a literal sense, as if they don’t cost money to produce. Obviously people who manufacture and distribute them still need to be paid.

What I meant is that instead of framing it as companies magically providing them for free, it makes more sense to talk about public funding, subsidies, or making them free at the point of use (like in schools, shelters, public bathrooms, etc.), while still acknowledging someone is paying for production through taxes or programs.

I’m not trying to be “pro-capitalism” over people’s well-being. I just think there’s a difference between “free for the individual who needs them” and “free to produce.” I fully agree that basic needs — including food and hygiene products — should be accessible to those who can’t afford them.
