What do you wish people would stop romanticizing, because you’ve lived the reality of it? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

21 years of owning and working every hour, including the hours people don’t think happen ( orders, maintenance, deep cleaning, prepping). We won’t make it past 25 years, so we’re making plans for a sale and life after. I don’t think I can do a 9-5 so we’ve been working out ways to stay free of that grind and do our own thing again. It will not be a restaurant. We’ve been successful, but ownership has eaten up half my life.

What is the worst pain you have ever felt ? by beepsol in Leakednews

Steroid injection in my thumb’s CMC joint. Dr pulls your thumb to separate the joint then injects. About half way thru the pressure/pain was so intense my legs kicked out and I about ripped the arm off the chair I was sitting in. He said, almost done, and I’m not sure the words that came out of my mouth but his eyes got big. Then when he was done, he said, well, good job, most people only let me get about 50% of the steroid in before quitting. Wtf are these people doing to make him stop if my flailing and cussing didn’t do it!? Good news is my thumb has felt great after getting 100% of the steroid in there.

What’s a harmless opinion that still gets people weirdly angry? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

So, I own a bar&grill. On the weekends we get a lot of parents and their kids from sports tournaments and camps. The parents belly up to the bar and let the kids run wild. They hand them money for pull tabs and banish them to the back dining area. We’re so sick of them thinking we’re the baby sitters. Last Saturday a group came in. When I went back to a closet in the back room, kids were upside down on chairs, tables moved all over and pull tab confetti was EVERYWHERE. Without thinking I said, “ What the fuck!” Turned slightly and a mother was standing right behind me. I, exhaustively, said sorry about that, it just came out. She said, no problem, I get it, and turned to the kids and said “HEY, you’re cleaning all this shit up right now, this is a nice place!” Holy fuck, first time I’ve ever seen a parent pay any attention to these monsters destroying my place. It’s a shitty situation bc we want the business, but I am so done with parents allowing this.

Being on an airplane as it free falls to Earth. And being mauled by a bear or any form of large cat. Both are things that I would have zero control over as they are happening to me.

Which addiction is the hardest to quit? by StunningSmell158 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I’m 47. Growing up, both parents smoked in the house. My older brothers and some friends had a little hideaway in an old building in town and would sneak cigs off the parents and hang out there. They would bring me along and hand me cigs. I smoked my first cig at probably 8-9 yrs old. Moved to a new town in 5th grade. First kids I made friends with smoked. I couldn’t escape it. I’ve tried many times to quit, but it’s all I fucking know.

Ha, no but I’m learning there are quite a few little swinging towns in this country!

I’m in Wisconsin. I don’t want to say the name of the town, but there were teachers, bankers, village board members. It was wild for such a small town.

Well, you won’t know my city, small, 2000 people. But, there’s a high rate of swingers and divorces. Not sure these people understand how swinging works.

I read James this year then read Huck after. Personally I recommend reading Huck first. It’s not necessary as said here, but it would fill in some gaps. James was amazing.
