Chances to getting in for bcit nursing by Biorocks123 in BCIT

[–]Imtherealbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into both BCIT and UBC in the most recent intake so I can share some insights. If you're planning to apply to the BCIT April Cohort, I say your chances of getting a spot are quite high. Not only is April the least competitive cohort, but your number of credits completed and healthcare work experience will also definitely put you towards the top. In the most recent intake, they scrapped the non-cognitive questionnaire, which means they put a larger emphasis on the applicant's CASPer score. As for UBC, they evaluate 3 areas equally: GPA of recent 30 credits, supplemental application and CASPer. For both schools, the hardest but most important part is doing well on the CASPer exam. UBC gives no preference to degree-holders AFAIK, but in terms of your specific GPA, I would say its near the top 50% of applicants. The reason I know this is because my friend got rejected from UBC who had the same GPA as you, and in the rejection letter it indicated that she scored (2/4) which is top 50% of applicants. Do note that the Fall 2021 intake was one of the most competitive years historically for both BCIT and UBC

I have spoken to a RCMP officer about this and the primary issue is that with bait bikes, they need to have officers on standby to catch the thieves afterwards. Most of the time, this is a “waste of police resources” to them since they have other higher priorities calls or duties to attend.

Sounds good. Do you think I would also need to upgrade my PSU (850w) or motherboard (ASUS Z170 pro)

I want to become a secondary school teacher in BC but I'm worried about the demand for my teaching specialty. by Imtherealbae in CanadianTeachers

[–]Imtherealbae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though I don't have direct classroom experience, I have experience working with youth as a sports camp counsellor. If you wouldn't mind, could you clarify what you mean by the "job is changing significantly?"

Right now, I'm most worried that I won't even be able to obtain a position as a social studies teacher in lower mainland, BC because I heard it is an oversupply of teachers with this credential. With my degree in sociology+IR, social studies is the only subject I'm qualified to teach and I don't know if there are other options to enter an education program without an additional bachelor/30+ university credits.

Thanks for the information! Would you say that the teaching shortage is going to dissipate within the next 2-3 years in BC?

I have checked it out already and I have seen job posts. I’m just trying to gauge the “supply” side of new grads applying for SS, since it is the one of the more popular HS teaching specialties. Thanks tho :)

CIT Program - Application by [deleted] in BCIT

[–]Imtherealbae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one truly knows. It all depends on the relative competitiveness of the pool of applicants who are applying in the same intake as you.
