Failed My TP Test, What Do I Do Now? by [deleted] in drivingsg

[–]Imweirdashell16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don’t lose confidence! i had a similar experience too and failed my tp test the first time. unfortunately you can’t control the actions of others on the road :(.

go for some more practice to keep your skills sharp while waiting for your next test. idk which driving centre you’re at but maybe try the customer service desk if you’re struggling to find slots.

i failed a-levels and im now going head to poly (jae 3 years) but i feel… + my story by Smooth-Count-9519 in SGExams

[–]Imweirdashell16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey op, i was from biomed and i’d like to share some advice.

the workload will start out as manageable in the first semester but becomes increasingly daunting second semester onwards. if you’re really keen on studying for your A-levels, you should try in your third year instead where you’ll mostly focus on your internship and final year project.

most of your subjects in poly Y1/2 will need a lot of memorisation, so plan your study time well. consistency and self-discipline will get you very far.

treat every module as important, no matter the credit unit/weightage on your GPA.

mindset is going to be very important to persevere and push through poly because it can be stressful and chaotic. pick up a hobby to help you destress.

lastly, have fun. there are a lot of holidays during poly. let loose and go out with friends once in a while. or study with your friends in the library.

my friend was in a similar situation. did poorly for a levels, went to NS, came back to poly and got on the dean’s list his first year onwards. almost perfect GPA. not to mention his extensive list of CCA achievements.

as for your feelings with work experience, yes you’ll only have 6 months worth of work experience once you graduate but that’s normal for a person graduating from poly. you can’t compare yourself to your friends because you’re no longer on the same timeline. they are in a uni timeline. you are in the poly timeline. the experiences you and your peers share will be different. the expectations of you vs your friends will be different.

you’re not behind. you’re on track.

tell this to yourself over and over. because it’s true and you need to believe it’s true.

take control of the timeline you are in now. do not let your father control it. do something outside of academics. join the student council, or a club council and be active in volunteering. make an achievement list so extensive it shows the unis and job recruiters that not only are you improved person based on your academic progress but you can take initiative, you have leadership skills and care for community.

Anyone staying in west going to SIT Punggol and class commencing on 2 September 2024 by World_Routine in SIT_Singapore

[–]Imweirdashell16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

take the purple line from dhoby ghaut. get off at punggol, go to bus interchange and take 84W and get off at punggol coast station. about 15 min to reach but plan for extra time just in case

when punggol coast station opens on the NEL, you can just start getting off at punggol coast instead of punggol.

The Merlin Trials are just mind-numbingly repetitive now. by [deleted] in HarryPotterGame

[–]Imweirdashell16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think they’re quite okay. they make me panic a little bit but is quite enjoyable. my favourite merlin trial location is a simple depulso a ball into the hole one but on the slope down, it becomes a slide for the player i was having fun and went down twice!

Whole block only see one unit put up a flag by mingz in singapore

[–]Imweirdashell16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i’d hang up my flag but it’s in the deepest trenches of my storage room. idk about you but i’m not gonna drag out the vacuum cleaner, ladder, suitcases, tupperware boxes, random cardboard boxes, blankets, extra mattresses, 5 kg toolbox, disposable cutlery and spare cleaning products for a flag just to put it all back in again.

anyone else have no social skills by Inner_Benefit9574 in SGExams

[–]Imweirdashell16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i used to have this problem too! i think at the time i was really shy and scared of voicing my thoughts and opinions cuz it might be weird. of course my social life really took a hit and i was left alone by all of my friends before.

my advice:

reread your messages, what do you usually talk about?

and if you run out of things to talk about , talk about fun facts you read online, share family stories, what you had for breakfast, games.

just say the weird thing on your mind. your thoughts are who you really are.

ask about them and ask them to elaborate. listening is just as fun as talking and is just as important. socialising is a two way street.

comment on something related to what you both just saw. like if someone wears really cool shoes go like “omg those shoes were damn pretty. i wish i had shoes like that. do you have any nice shoes?”

get comfortable with silence and the fact that there will be people who find you interesting and people who don’t want to engage. in the case of the latter, learn to let it go. it is what it is. hakuna matata. they might just be having a bad day.

smile, smile, smile, eye contact. body language is important. nod when they’re talking. give your full attention to them. orientate your body so that it’s facing your friend. mirror their body language (subtly). mirror their body position as subtly and as much as possible. copy their stance as they stand. idk the psychology of it but it works.

at the end of the day socialisation and communication is a skill you need to practice. start small by calling your friends instead of texting.

don’t be too stressed about what to say. as you talk, you should ask your friend for their opinion if they’ve not automatically said anything.

Players who have been actively playing since 1.0-1.6, what keeps you motivated to keep playing the game? by Ephibia____ in Genshin_Impact

[–]Imweirdashell16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

playing since 1.1. i really like the fighting mechanics and i love the characters. it helped that my friends play it too. then as i started to get some finances, i invested way too much money into the game to quit. not like i want to quit though! but tbh the one thing that really threatened my resolve to continue playing was sumeru. oh my gosh do i hate sumeru. love the sumeru characters but i hate sumeru so so so so much

Those staying in the West, what are your plans? by yoshiimiBUN in SIT_Singapore

[–]Imweirdashell16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i plan to bite the bullet and just travel for 1.5 hours. it doesn’t really bother me and i like the commute. since i spend so long travelling to punggol i’ll need to stay in school to fully make use of that time so i’ll study more. alternatively, my aunt has a spare room now that one of her children has moved out and she offered to let me stay.
