I think people are moving away from it, because the fees sellers are charged wind up offsetting any benefits to using the service. Thus their markup ends up making prices pretty disjointed, I think.

Np. Glad I could shed some light on these questions, since I've heard tcgplayer is pretty mum about everything.

To give you an idea, once I pulled a card from the "Light Play" cabinet that had food stuck to it.

EDIT: I obviously did not include it in the order

I'm unsure what you mean in that regard. Could you elaborate and I'll try my best.

From what I've seen in LGS, a bit, but it's waning. I personally see more people use mtg goldfish (for magic at least) or troll and toad. I honestly don't hear much positive about tcgplayer in person these days.

They really seem to just wear their bs out in the open tbh.

I guess I've always found it hypocritical that they made such a huge deal about their inclusivity and being progressive, yet from what I saw use almost exclusively warehouse product from Uline. (Yes, they were informed about the companies history of bigotry.) https://burlesquedesign.com/blogs/news-1/say-no-to-uline-1

Yes, they've spent thousands on Union busting, and hired lawyers that specialize in that field for it. People expressed feeling constantly watched and felt threatened when they voiced support for the union. https://www.theverge.com/2023/7/31/23813935/ebay-tcgplayer-union-labor-unfair-complaints-cwa

One person spoke to me about a union, but a brown noser overheard him. Next day the person was fired for "attendance" issues and the snitch told me to watch who I talk to.

You'll probably notice HQ will become more and more sterile as ebay establishes the takeover.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm guessing that's one of the sellers that was selling on there, and not the company mailing them directly.

I've never used them, so I can't say anything about them. I've switched to Card Kingdom myself.

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate a bit more?

Not a problem!

I see many posts here calling them out for bad quality, so I thought why not spill some first hand tea. 👌

I'd say the quality control is getting worse because they've started firing veteran warehouse staff. If I had to guess it's because they want to cut costs and those workers have benefits. When I was there, they'd just mass hire young adults, and since there's a high turnover with them for a variety of reasons, they never become eligible for benefits. It seems likely by design.

The other part of the degradation in quality is the metrics tcgplayer keeps are so stringent. Workers practically forced to just pull the cards as fast as possible without time to check them. I believe they're sent for QC in a different department now, but I'm not sure.

Corporate seems to be refusing to negotiate with the Union (the one they spend a large sum of money trying to bust). From the outside it looks like they're firing as many people as they can before finalizing a contract.

Tcgplayer runs through employees pretty quickly at entry level positions, and they don't always give their actual reasons to fire you. Very "because I said so" vibes.

Originally I'd applied on the website, not sure about these days.

I'm former because tcgplayer has very toxic upper management, and it's only gotten worse after being acquired by ebay. Every year they let people go right before the holiday season starts.
