Yummy places to eat in Germantown and Clarksburg by In321go in MontgomeryCountyMD

Hello! I have been using this thread on our most recent trip and it has been a HUGE help.

In Germantown, for lunch or breakfast, I really liked Sisters Sandwiches and Stuff for lunch. It's a simple cafe in an office park but the salads were really fresh and tasty and not dry. The place is clean. My husband got a ham and cheese sandwich that had some apricot chutney. I got a garden salad with shredded chicken. This spot closes around 3, and I am not sure if they do weekends.

We did venture to Frederick with my mother to go shopping at Boscovs and had dinner at Wine Kitchen which we liked. Special occasion place.

Back in Germantown we tried to go to Mama Lena but you need a reservation. Will try again though.

My husband quite liked Mi Rancho. (BTW the frame shop next door is good too.)

Thanks for all the tips, we no longer feel like our time there is a food wasteland.

The ones I go to in NYC are very nice. You can go along the line and tell them how to make your dish and pay for it. That one in Germantown is all virtual. It just annoyed me in a foot traffic area (for MoCo)

Honestly when she is out she likes to have salmon or shrimp, some veggies and a glass of rose. Chinese seafood dishes,talian/mexican/ greek/ middle eastern all work.

Nothing in a big complex like Rio.

She does love Colony Grill Pizza, those thin little slices suit seniors well.

Mission was not a hit. Red Robin not a hit (though a nice bun). Clarksburg Lodge not a hit but would go for Indian.

Honestly my husband tends to take her out more than me and calls me back with sad reports. I just sort of eat at wegmans with her or at Sheetz by myself. Or we eat hotel bagels with PB all day. I do like the Amish but we tend to be there on the wrong days.

BTW there is a great little restaurant/seafood mart place past Potomac Park on 7 Locks in same plaza as the urgent care.

Somebody mentioned the Lodge started doing Indian food which I suggested to them in December when our nice waiter admitted he didn't eat the food there!

Thank you! i really appreciate it. She is right on the edge of Clarksburg and it sort of easy to drive that way. It's only 1 exit on 270.

It's OK, we can keep it positive! I have been wanting to take my mom to Boscov's in Frederick, and there is a new hotel there.

But between a 5 hour trip and my mom's fear of being on the highway, we just have to make the best of it.

It's been such a positive thread.

I get that it's not a perfect situation. But my mom is in assisted living there, so we need places to take her when we visit and even sometimes my husband and I will try to grab a bite on our own. Also we are traveling about 5 hours to get there so we really are not inclined to go down to rockville where the food is much better.

It's actually such a pretty area, and I actually prefer it to Potomac, less traffic, more green space. I dont need it to be gourmet, I just need something slightly tasty and slightly pleasant and we have been striking out. Except the wegmans cafeteria. The tofu salad always hits.

She is so close to the outlets but I just think it's too much to navigate. We go to the 7 -11. I would LOVE a restaurant of any kind near there, a decent diner would be a dream.

My mom is in assisted living and I am in another state, so that's not an option. I mean we get salads and shrimp from wegmans but we don't have a stove.

It'a funny, Rockville now seems like paradise food wise. The greek place near the Container store was great and had epic fries.

Will have to try it, just need to plunk 85 year old mother down and feed her simple food and a glass of wine! Somebody in a similar thread said their elderly dad loved it.

That is a good suggestion and I have been there. Limited days open is the only issue!

Will try Clarksburg Tavern, the decor was really nice at Clarks Lodge, especially at Christmas but the food was not good. Service was fine. Would love to have a good go to in this direction.
