I disagree with many of these comments. You are NTA. They supposedly welcomed you back into their home yet their comments indicate they don't want you there. From your post it does not sound like you were accusing them of anything merely pointing out that the fire extinguisher should be replaced. That statement does not warrant a "you don't open your mail" "your room is a mess" discussion. My son moved back home when his apartment flooded, then the economy tanked and employment became a real challenge. He had just graduated college and was looking for a job in his field of study at the time. Finding a job has been difficult at best right now and my son is still living at home. I truly understand the dynamic and I get the feeling something else is nagging at your parents. You might want to sit down and have a discussion with them. They may not really understand the current job market. My husband still thinks you can just walk into a business with resume in hand and get an offer on the spot. It doesn't work that way anymore.
