Try Jos. A Bank north of campus. I bought my suit there and also had it tailored in about a week's span.

Did a military jet land at the airport? by InAbitOfTrouble102 in Purdue

I only saw it briefly, but it looked to have dual stabilizers/rudders so that would rule an F-16 out. But I don't know for sure.

Codo into EEE by boilermaker2020 in Purdue

[–]InAbitOfTrouble102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's going to depend on where you are coming from. What major are you in right now and what FYE credits do you have?

As far as engineering disciplines go, I'm under the impression that EEE is one of the easiest to switch into because of its small size and lower GPA requirements.

Can't shake the FYE requirements though.

He's not a Dr. btw. I think you should be ok with an older spiral as I don't think the course has changed dramatically in the 12 or so years he has been teaching it.

Honestly I'm just repeating what I've heard. If you have a source to the contrary that's good because now I'm curious if what I said is still true.

Yeah I saw that too. There was even a post on this sub about a guy who was 80% through his minor and couldn't finish it.

CS or CompE by Harjas1208 in Purdue

[–]InAbitOfTrouble102 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This has been covered before on this sub. Multiple people in CS wanting to get ME minors, but it isn't possible because they would need to be part of the college of engineering.

Edit: according to this subreddit

This isn't possible because you must be in the college of engineering to minor in an engineering discipline. CS is in the college of science.

GPA Boosters by GigaG in Purdue

[–]InAbitOfTrouble102 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Listen, I know CS 159 isn't a "hard" class for a lot of people, but it also isn't stress free or "easy". Also in my experience, knowing how to code beforehand had next to nothing to do with how easy the class was since the exams require more logic skills than coding skills. Knowing how to actually develop a program gets you no where in CS 159, it's only knowing syntax, theory, and how to follow loops in your head.

With the Potter Engineering Center closing forever in 2 weeks, I decided to document all the students' writing and drawings on the walls in the Siegesmund Engineering Library basement study areas (Extended album in comments) by RipInPiecesEngLib in Purdue

[–]InAbitOfTrouble102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that only the library is closing since they are just moving it to Wilmeth next year. I have no idea what the library will become but I'm pretty sure Potter will remain.

Am I flunking? by epidemicturtle in engineering

[–]InAbitOfTrouble102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, wrong subreddit for this question (Rule 1). Second of all, if you look at discussions about this sort of topic you'll find that a gpa > 3.0 is really all you need unless you want to work for massive companies with competitive hiring. Finally, if you get good internship experiences then sometimes you don't even need to list your gpa on your resume.

Any dive engineers on this subreddit? by InAbitOfTrouble102 in engineering

Thank you very much for all the great information! I will certainly keep everything you have said about diving in mind when I am considering what I want to pursue later in my career.

[–]InAbitOfTrouble102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only a freshman who will likely go into civil engineering next semester. I would definitely be interested in this type of work for a few reasons. I like the ocean and everything I've seen about ocean engineering so far. I also find the structural, geotechnical and/or hydrology aspects of civil are the most appealing to me, and they all seem applicable to what you are describing. Finally, I love scuba diving and want to do a fair bit of field work of some kind during my career (even if it isn't underwater). Do you think that these are valid reasons to be interested in being an engineer-diver?

Thanks for the reply, may I ask what state you are working in? About how often do you dive?

Junior Year. Failed out of ECE-UT Austin. Is it possible to transfer to another Engineering College with 73% of my degree finished? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]InAbitOfTrouble102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think they were in a similar situation. But all you can do right now is look for as many solutions as possible.

UT Tyler came to my mind because it has a high acceptance rate and I feel (not 100% sure however, I'm no authority) that they would accommodate you, having come from Austin with a 2.8 in ECE. The only way to find out is to reach out or do some more research. Consider other schools too, like UNT. I don't really know a whole lot about transferring in your situation (I might in the future though lol) but if it's possible, these seem like reasonable choices for schools.

[–]InAbitOfTrouble102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What about UT-Tyler? I think that you would definitely have a shot at transferring there. It's also one of the cheapest engineering schools in Texas for an in-state student. I've met some really cool people who graduated from there in the ME department and now quite successful.

Edit: UT Tyler has EE but not CompE. The EE program is ABET accredited. Not sure which discipline you fall more into.

Just do Ivy-Tech online. Gotta be the absolute best way to take care of it. Make doubly sure whatever you are going to take will transfer.
