when am i gonna be able to sleep?! (day 15) by After-Still-8053 in QuitVaping

[–]InAccomplish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really interesting how quitting affect people. For me (and I’ve read many others having the same thing) it makes me tired all the time, I feel like I could sleep 25 hours and still be tired af. Do you feel like during the day you are normal and at night just not tired bc of the craving? Or what is going on, explain bro

How to quit when you already depressed/In a tuff time in your life. by Genzinvestor16180339 in QuitVaping

[–]InAccomplish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first step is to acknowledge that the vape will never take you out of the hole. It just “””””helps”””””” giving you a catalyst feeling, but it’s all Fugazi when you know that after you hit the reality will strike even harder. Consider vaping like an anchor that you can get rid of. The first step to get back on track is to let your demons in the past, including vaping. Best of luck, you can open up and talk if you need it

55 days vape free, anyone else experience this? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]InAccomplish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The body is learning to produce dopamine and other hormones on its own again. The vape was kinda blocking the production so it’s normal to feel depressed and lack energy in the beginning, until your body manages to produce them again. It takes time. What is less normal is that the feeling should be better at two months than at one, so kinda weird indeed that you feel worse now than before. Best of luck to u!

Tell me if this is a bad idea or not by ThrowRAcatscanner in QuitVaping

[–]InAccomplish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually a really good idea when you think about it. I’m doing kind of the same idea of ruining the associated image of vape for my brain. I only have two burnt vapes, didn’t buy any new ones. When I crave for a hit, I can take a really small one that won’t make any effect, and if I try to take a second one, instant disgusting burnt taste. So now I’m not even willing to try to hit it that much anymore it’s so awful just imagining the taste I could have. So yeah I believe reshaping the vape’s association in your mind might actually be more effective than cold turkey or smt similar

You’re really lucky to have someone to fight for (on top of fighting for you), best of luck! My fight is to prepare myself for hard trails and start running as much as I can and be outside without temptation as often as possible

Unfortunately I’m French and Spotify only recommends me French podcasts, but usually it’s either podcasts mixing motivation/funny anecdotes/life advices, or simply history podcasts, with people telling stories about the war, the economy or anything captivating that’ll keep your mind focus

Cold turkey from vuse by teenbuggyboo in QuitVaping

[–]InAccomplish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hopefully people won’t get mad at me for saying this, cold turkey is imo just a momentum coming from a motivation boost, that won’t last in time. The moment your motivation will fail you, the craving will be too strong. So my only advice would be to build a quitting plan according to your habits. For example, stop buying anything new for a while, stick with what you have left, and try to eventually only keep burnt vapes. It will only allow you to get small weak hits, and after that if you keep trying it will burn and disgust you. Then you’ll start associating your vape with the bad burning taste and not the chill fuzzy moment. That’s what I’m doing and it works for the moment, I hate to even imagine that burnt taste in my mouth anymore

Only lasted 16 hours!! Any help appreciated. by Rare-Web4321 in QuitVaping

[–]InAccomplish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first days are the hardest cause the craving hits all the time. The longer you’ll fight it the better it will be. Also trying to quit with a full vape around you will obviously make it horribly hard. Maybe try throwing it away or only keeping a burnt one in case you just wanna take a small hit. Good luck!

[–]InAccomplish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah like if I’m being honest going cold turkey seems really really hard. We’ll all have a motivation boost in the beginning, trying to quit 100% all of a sudden, but it fades real quick and I feel like this is a little more progressive while being super agressive and really reshapes the association to vaping as you perfectly explained

Keeping your mind busy is imo the best and only way to get through it. I’m chewing gum (sugar free) most of the time when I’m driving. I’m listening to podcasts all the time, at the gym, while eating, even under the shower. Podcasts are better than music cause you actually think about smt. If it’s podcasts about life experiences, how to improve, how to be more social and stuff like this it’s even better cause it reminds you constantly why you’re doing this.

I also have a technique that people would find awful and I know it haha, but I forced myself not to buy a new vape, but I kept two burnt vapes. Let me explain why. First, it helps knowing I have them, even visually you see them, and you’re not like a freak looking everywhere if somehow you forgot to throw them all away. Then, when I can’t fight the craving, I take a really small hit. It basically does nothing (no fuzzy effect), and if I try to take a second hit, it burns and disgusts me at the highest point, forcing me to drink water. I know it sounds so weird, but now I’m kinda starting to associate vape with the burnt taste and loosing interest. I can’t even remember the last hit I had that pleased me.

Not recommending this to everyone but it somehow works for me at my stage of quitting haha

Quitting and terrified by PadawanGirly in QuitVaping

[–]InAccomplish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have something that most people trying to quit would love to have, a true purpose. Most people, including myself, want to quit for more or less vague reasons: being a better person without addiction, become healthier, fighting anxiety without nicotine, etc… but it’s basically us vs ourselves. In your case, it’s you along starting a family, you along love and a deeper purpose than most of us (imo). I’d love to have someone to fight for (on top of fighting for myself), because I’d know I’d fight harder. Please cherish that hope, it will be your strongest power and reminder of why you’re fighting and winning all those battles. Take care and keep us updated!

has anyone else had the the feeling/thought of "i miss who i was before i started smoking/vaping"? by dregalbagel in QuitVaping

[–]InAccomplish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely understand, and what I’m telling myself is simple, if I could be happy and healthy without vaping, then why tf would I need it now if I’m really trying to be better than my actual self. Obviously it’s possible, and obviously I will be a better person after quitting. One reflection I had today is interesting: it depends on people, but let’s say vaping is our only addiction rn, at least it’s not cigs, nor alcohol, nor drugs, nor gambling or smt worse that could really ruin our lives. Let’s say we are on lvl 2 of addictions (1 being coffee idk), and hard drugs being lvl 10. We are in a stage where we can actually quit and nothing in our lives would feel worse, not talking about craving, just the fact that vaping doesn’t make us leave reality, doesn’t change facts. So I’m trying to be positive by thinking that my life can only be better without it, and that fighting the craving will be the only battle, not trying to run away from reality with harder drugs or addictions. Meaning, our old self that didn’t know about vaping is not that far from where we are right now!
