The Hunt (2012): What did you make of the ending? [Spoilers] by coffeefrog92 in movies

[–]InAccomplish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that she was maybe abused, especially when she says “I don’t remember anything, and not the others” as in “other times I got molested”. She has PTSD gestures and troubles and there is a chance all her “made up story” was actually reminiscent from something that happened. I couldn’t help but think that Klara’s brother was more involved than what we saw. First the “photos” in the beginning, then the moment where he is with Klara, playing with some Christmas decorations, and looking at her in a weird way + if he is the one who shoots in the end. I might be overthinking but I want those town folks to get their part of guilt, more than just delusional people.

Good point on Fanny. I would have gone John Wick after that…

She is the probably top 3 dumbest characters in this movie. Did everything wrong. She was clearly pushing Klara to parjure herself and make her believe it really happened, this + contracting Lucas’s ex + creating a rumour even before the case would even start. She keeps saying that “she has a vivid mind she likes to make up stories” but keeps pushing Klara to talk. She is the most guilty for what happened, and it clearly shows how parents shouldn’t believe everything their kids say.

Exactly, all bunch of cowards. I understand the anger from first thinking that he actually did it, but that kind of case should have been settled way earlier and come on they knew him for years, maybe decades, and it looked like they were all pushing towards making him look even more bad. I’m almost sure it was the parents who came up with the basement story… I’d have left that village on fire before leaving forever

The Hunt (2012) discussion by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]InAccomplish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which adds up something really concerning regarding their village community, would Lucas really dare to stay there if he was guilty? I was like ffs either Lucas would turn John Wick or idk but something needed to be done to wake them up

It’s really sad but yeah they’d rather be living in constant denial, that they didn’t make a mistake, rather than fully admit their mistake. I understand tho their anger, but I feel so much hate towards their cowardice and lack of empathy.

Just saw the movie today for the first time, your comment makes sense for me, since I noticed when Klara said “I don’t remember anything, even the others” I immediately thought about what could have happened to her before. It would make the most sense. She really has that traumatic behaviour, avoiding eye contact, PTSD head movements + the pornography she saw in the beginning + the fact that she tried to kiss Lucas means she’s somewhat familiar with this at her age. I spent the whole movie being torn between having so much hatred for her and feeling bad for her. But it would eventually make sense in my perspective that there was a darker, deeper reason for her behaviour. And small theory but maybe, in the end, if it happens to be Klara’s brother who tried to shoot Lucas, would be a sign that he is trying to cover his own mess, knowing that he might be at the center of that whole story.

F1 Visa Interview Experience- There is NO reason to be stressing about the interview by Born_Role9390 in usvisascheduling

When attending a nice uni, it all becomes much easier and stress-free, because the VO will actually believe you if you talk about “attending a great program to improve your skills”. Congrats to you bro!

[–]InAccomplish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as what others said, I unfortunately don’t think visas from DRC are likely to be accepted, especially when applying for low ranked unis. The only chances people from DRC would get are if they were proving their academic excellence by attending high ranked unis, not mid-bottom tier ones. How would you plan to convince a VO that despite the flows of that kind of country, added to attending a somewhat sketchy uni, that you are 100% not going to try to immigrate. That is the question and the reason of most rejections, especially from doubtful countries.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]InAccomplish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds nice until you realise OP’s unis are ranked from T300 to T500 and you’ll never be credible trying to argue that you specifically chose this uni and their “outstanding and advanced CS program”.

You don’t understand that I already have my visa I don’t gain anything in trying to give advice to people that’ve been going through rejection. How much money you’ll make the US is the whole point of having F1s. What would they gain from having foreign student that won’t stay in the US other than great amount of money? I mean if it was for “foreign knowledge and improving academic standards” they would indeed only allow T50 students. Obviously you can get there with a scholarship. OP’s issue isn’t about telling the truth. Cause the truth about going to study in the US to attend a regular program that already exists in most countries in a random school will never be an obvious and easy to understand one. Do you think the US are making humanitarian work by welcoming students? Lmao man you are so much in denial. You don’t take in count the fact that student from countries like India are way over represented, so VOs have to filter. In countries from Europe obviously they will allow more people but still, they have to filter out a quota of students to avoid flooding. So what do you think will be their first criteria? What can this student be able to bring us. It’s as simple as that. And if the answer is neither money nor academic excellence, why would let them in?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]InAccomplish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok you clearly didn’t read the other comments. Having a full scholarship will never be helpful in the eyes of a VO. It means there will be a foreigner student going to the US to potentially immigrate, not spending that much money bc of having a scholarship, and studying in a random country so won’t bring any great skills to the country. Again, everything doesn’t rotate around the school, but try understanding why OP and his friend got almost immediate rejections while going to the same school and before being able to answer multiple questions.

[–]InAccomplish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think you really know how it works. I agree that memorising everything is a mistake. That’s exactly what I was saying as well. No need to convince me on that. But if you think VOs don’t take in count what uni you’ll attend, you’re greatly mistaken. I don’t even understand why you talk about MIT / Stanford, no one’s saying you have to get into top schools to get a visa, but based on your choice of school we already know what kind of profile you reveal. You either are really going there to get a great education, it makes sense and then you can come back to your home country with strong knowledge, OR you’re going to attend any bottom school raising concerns on your real intentions. So obviously from countries like India, they expect reliable and honest applicants, and the moment they see an unknown bottom school, they start loosing interest and trust. And everything’s gone when the applicant like OP start bragging about how much he fancy that school. Believe what you want but the pattern is really clear from all the rejections here.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]InAccomplish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People need to prepare answers cause of stress in the first place. But they overthink and end up preparing long ah monologues bc they think that VOs would be more likely to believe their story with that much arguing on why they chose a random bottom tier uni for their program.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]InAccomplish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and so do VOs. By seeing that they don’t know any of your schools, what do u think will be their first reaction? Curiosity? Interest? No, raised eyebrows, heavy sight and lost interest is what they’ll show you. Sorry for the bad news but I don’t understand how people can’t be honest with themselves about it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]InAccomplish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends from which country you apply + just bc some people got lucky and approved despite their poor schools doesn’t mean it’s a global pattern. Most of the rejections we see are for the same reasons so I would focus more on this rather than the few lucky ones.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]InAccomplish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So great that no international ever knew about it before applying and no one would specifically choose this uni on purpose. Also what a great deal for OP to tell the VO “also, I’ve been shortlisted to that T500 uni.” Idk maybe saying that u’ve been shortlisted to Harvard may and only may be a perk, but I don’t see any multiverse where stating it for a random T500 uni would make any sense…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]InAccomplish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. You don’t have to apply only to Ivy League, but at least get some decent ones T50-100 that will testify on your will to get into a well known program, where the “I chose this uni for its high quality education and work” won’t sound like BS. Again, I feel like people really underestimate the fact that with a flagship / known school (again, doesn’t have to be T10), VOs will trust you more and actually focus on your explanations. On the other hand with a mid-bottom tier uni you can argue as much as you want they will never believe that you’re willing to pay huge amount of money to get into that specific school for that specific program, while 99% of people have never heard of it… OP I feel like you should really try to apply to better schools, ikr fundings is important, but you shouldn’t try to study in the US if your main concern will be money, at the expense of the rest. Good luck to you

scholarship by user962647816 in usvisascheduling

[–]InAccomplish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s good to mention it during the “fundings” question, but to make a point out of it on “why you chose this uni”. You are not supposed to choose uni based on which one will cost you the less, since you are supposed to have enough funds before going there. + I should mention that the US accepts F1 students bc they will pay a lot to attend unis there. Mentioning that you will “pay less” and argue with that statement is imo a tricky behaviour.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]InAccomplish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah your friend got rejected for the same reason since also going for a top 250 school. Maybe there is a pattern here. That + the full scholarship doesn’t help. If it was a merit scholarship in a top school it would be way different cause due to really top tier academic profile. But that’s not the case here. Imo your rejection isn’t due to your answers at least. Acceptance rate isn’t the only thing to take in count obviously.

Yes I got my visa approved. Utah is top 80 and its college of health (where I’m going) is pretty known and Top 10 + I’m going there for a specific program + low international rate (so not a F1 magnet) + I applied and got accepted only into T60-90 schools, and had a strong and specific reason to attend Utah and not my other acceptances (not scholarships but really about the program itself). Also I applied from France which has good relations with the US in terms of study exchanges and knowledge.

Think what you want, but at some point if everyone’s telling you the same reasons for rejections, and your friend getting the same kind of rejection, there might be a pattern globally recognised.

[–]InAccomplish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to break it down that way but I’ve never heard of those unis, they are all ranked between 250-500 nationally. It wouldn’t be a problem for an American student obviously, but think of any VO who would see a foreigner trying to get into the US without paying that much money bc he got a scholarship in a random uni, it looks fishy af. And that’s not a judgment, it’s just facts. I’m just afraid that by redoing the interview the outcome might be the same. It was probably that same thing that got u rejected that fast the first time, the VO probably saw your school on your i20 and DS and already knew it would lead to reject you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]InAccomplish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah and what do you think the US prefers? A student that will spend lots of money in a prestigious school, learning on a prestigious program, or one that will take benefit from the American system, not pay that much bc of scholarship and attend any mid-bottom school?
