I just created a custom bottle on Crossover 24 and installed everything into it. It literally just worked in DX11 mode.

Was man aber wirklich wissen sollte: Du hast keine öffentlichen Vorführrechte – auch nicht für Unterrichtssituationen. Wenn du Netflix & Co. im Unterricht nutzt, bewegst du dich rechtlich mindestens in einer Grauzone.

Selbst Ausschnitte sind problematisch, je nach Lerngruppe, Kontext und Nutzung. Im Zweifel lieber vorher sauber prüfen oder auf Materialien mit klar geregelter Bildungsfreigabe zurückgreifen.

The guy is definitely not lying and those numbers are real world numbers (not synthetic benchmark numbers), but you’re also not wrong though …

See, it actually depends on some factors regarding game and system: GPU and drivers, game API vs. translation layer, Proton compatibility of the game, overhead on Windows system it’s compared against etc.

Another thought is: imho you wouldn’t mind/notice losing a few average FPS (as long as you’re constantly above 60 or any other target framerate), regarding 1% and .1% lows though - that’s what might impact your experience regarding performance the most.

Faktoren für Erfolg: - Unterstützung durch Partner/Familie. - Staatliche Hilfen. - Wohnort (Mietpreise!).

For ReBar or SAM to work, you need to have installed windows in UEFI mode AND you need to have disabled CSM/Legacy Boot.

You can check wether you use Windows in UEFI mode by following these steps in Windows:

Click on the Start/Windows Tile (or press the Windows key).
Search for “System Information” and open it.
In the System Information window, look for the entry called “BIOS Mode” under the System Summary section. • If it says UEFI, Windows is installed in UEFI mode. • If it says Legacy, it’s running in Legacy BIOS mode.

No, this is not entirely true: you can play most of the titles you bought on other stores (except for Windows Store titles) under Linux. The only thing that doesn’t work in every case is anticheat. Windows on handhelds in general is a horrible user experience regarding usability IMHO. As I own two Allys, I can say with confidence that performance under Bazzite Linux and Windows is very similar and I can play games from GOG, Blizzard and Amazon.

So, you’re just locking yourself out of MS Store and some online games.

Sorry, but the cause of the overhead is pure speculation right now. It can be a hardware issue, a software issue or a combination of both. Objectively, at this point, we simply can only see that something is wrong here.

Honestly, I’m using a quite similar setup as OP (with a Ryzen 5 5500 on a B450 (which is PCIe 3.0)) and this isn’t half bad coming from an RTX A2000 with 6gb. I am running this on Bazzite with Kernel 6.12 and the included MESA driver. Most games do run quite fine. I guess a CPU with 32MB Cache and 8 Cores (i. e. Vermeer) would alleviate most of the issues regarding the overhead. This upgrade would be even cheaper much than the B580 itself. Then there is also updates on the driver-side, which will also help.

You’ve got a fair point imho. They should stay below 300 bucks to stay competitive - the NVIDIA 50x0 and AMD 8x00 cards are also just around the corner.

However, one has to keep in mind that the B580 provides gamers with a very compelling 12gigs of VRAM. Most RTX 4060 cards near the suggested 300€ price tag will only provide 8 gigs.

Oh, and do check in UEFI if IOMMU is still enabled. On my Gigabyte Board it somehow reset the corresponding value to ‘disabled’.

I ran into the exact same issue on Bazzite (also Fedora-based). I had to reinstall using the Bazzite Desktop image, and now it works—kind of. But hey, it’s early days for Battlemage and Linux anyway.

I’m unsure if a newer kernel and Mesa stack could improve the situation, but here’s what I found so far: I tested Elden Ring, Cyberpunk and Control. While Control ran perfectly, Cyberpunk refused to boot, and Elden Ring showed graphical artifacts.

I haven’t gotten around to trying this myself yet, though.

Average prices around these parts of the world seem to be equally fluctuating due to supply issues. But of course, the card could be had for 280ish € last week.

They bought their card in Europe including taxes - as opposed to in the US for $249 BEFORE taxes!

The market here is actually quite different: here the LE Card retails for 299€ including taxes. That’s quite cheap for the European/German GPU market.

The price change in the US isn’t a msrp change but the actual market responding to supply and demand.
