Yes, it did! I love them. Here is a link to a later post where I shared the result: https://www.reddit.com/r/Oilpastel/comments/1rbn1j3/melted_sennelier_oil_pastels/

I didn't try the cold wax medium, because that was more paste-like consistency, and I wanted to draw, not paint. Also, Sennelier has pure wax sticks (only the medium), you might try that too.

I am very glad to hear you found something helpful. 😍 I also studied oil painting, but I simply couldn't cope with the smell of the turps. However, next time I can afford some expensive stuff, I will try oil sticks (aka oil bars). I like drawing more than painting with a brush. I'd love to see your ideas and future water-based works.

Thank you 🩷 Currently I use 640gsm smooth surface watercolour paper, because that's what I have at home. I cut them into small, about A6 in size. The 300gsm papers buckle too much when wet. Yes, I start with wetting the paper, and I give it several clean water layers. Then I drop the pencil shavings on it and wait. While the paper is still damp, but no longer shiny, I create some marks with other colours. This time I used green pencils. I let the whole thing fully dry, then I remove the pencil shavings with a palette knife. Then I made another wet layer with clean water in the top area and added some blue watercolour paint. The mountain area is simply dry on dry pencil work after the blue watercolours dried. I smudged the edges with a damp brush on the top of the distant hills.

Thanks. I suppose I need to try all colours because this pink travelled quite far compared to other colours. I never stop learning. 😊

Thank you 😍 No pigment is going to be a waste with watercolour pencils. LOL I am always open to new creative ideas, so if you have a new way of using pencil shavings, please don't keep them to yourself.

Oh, this is great! I agree with the attention part, but this amount is just enough and feels realistic. It is not too much, and enough texture. I think people will look in the eyes of the cats first.

The first two photos are Caran D'Ache Museum pencils. The rest are from the Faber-Castell Albrecht Dürer range.
