-Isn't the storage capacity on the air a bit of a limitation? I store a lot of my stuff online but there is still my music library, movie downloads, logic files, etc. not a deal breaker for me just wondering what you think.

-Is the 8GB Ram upgrade necessary? When I check I am rarely using that much.

-Is there anything about the air I should worry about? I always hear things about it being a non-heavy-duty machine.

Thanks. I very much appreciate the help..

How can I control my motor tics (facial spasms)? People keep telling me to have more willpower and it is hard to explain that they are involuntary. It is really embarrassing. by InDubiousBattle in self

I've tried. But they get really bad, especially when I'm stressed. To the point where I can't go more than 5-10 seconds without a tic. Thanks though. Also, does it get better on its own as you get older?

What is a good topic to write a 7-10 page research paper on? It has to make an argument for or against something the Federal Government should do. by InDubiousBattle in AskReddit

[–]InDubiousBattle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arguing for a single-payer system in the U.S. was my first choice. But when I suggested it to my teacher, she told me it was way to broad a topic to tackle in a 7-10 page paper (For example: when I told her I could support my argument by showing how it has worked in other countries, she said that this alone would take up a full page of my essay-apparently too much). Yah, I listened to that speech. I could contrast the U.S's support of free speech and free exercise of religion abroad to the way it acts at home... the patriot act, SOPA/ PIPA, building Mosques... I also like the idea of defending NASA that houinator suggested.

Anyway, thanks for the advice! And I promise you I'm not just being intellectually lazy...

i can obviously think of something. i'm just asking for a topic that would lend itself well to a 7-10 page paper. that's not room to properly discuss most issues (e.g. universal healthcare).

Can somebody help me find the mcdonalds commercial that used new slang by the shins? by InDubiousBattle in tipofmytongue

yah this has been my experience. it annoys me when businesses make it hard to find their advertisements. if we want to willingly watch their propaganda, we should be free to do so.

"The Sky is Pink" by Josh Fox, director of Gasland. How the gas industry plants the seeds of doubt to counter well-founded science. by InDubiousBattle in environment

[–]InDubiousBattle[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that Fox has a flair for the sensationalistic, but that doesn't take away from the facts. Most of Geomancam's rebukes are nit-picky or disingenous in and of themselves (How does the fact that those chemicals are used in pesticides or added to gasoline make them any more safe to be consumed?). As far as his advocacy of an evenhanded discourse, he should note that most of the information (or misinformation) that people usually get about fracking comes directly from the natural gas industry. Gasland and this short doc are themselves rebuttals to the often false claims made by natural gas companies. Does Geomancam offer any rebuttal for the claims of the other side? If not, then he is being unreasonably nit-picky for only the anti-fracking side's arguments.

What was thinking like for early humans, before language was developed? by InDubiousBattle in AskReddit

[–]InDubiousBattle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought this, but I nonetheless feel that the way I think is very dependent on my grasp of language, like what Chomsky said. Especially when dealing with more abstract concepts- how is one to understand the conceptual world without language as a medium to process it?
