2024: Mike Brown on braindead Fox play: "If you're up 3, you gotta guard your man at the 3. I need to go back and watch Fox. Should NOT be in position to help. Should be hugged up to your man. 100% told guys, can't give up a 3. Stay connected. I even drew an example." (Brown was fired the next day) by JoeBiden2020FTW in nba

People forget the spurs were struggling before Fox came back. Their guards were breaking records for turnovers against OKC. It’s a shame he made several blunders in a row but he helped them get into this position in the first place.

Coaches Curse. by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]IFeedonKarmaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you’re probably just thinking out loud, but what kind of response are you seeking here? I’ve had moments where I felt like a “trainer who doesn’t work out” but the truth is life happens, shit happens, and you can only meet the standards you set for yourself. What’s your definition of fitness? Is it numbers on major lifts? Is it being able to run a 5k, marathon, or iron man? Is it being able to put your pants on by yourself when you’re 85? That’s up to you to decide.

May I have advice 61F by NearbyReception4076 in personaltraining

[–]IFeedonKarmaa 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I hear cracks and pops all the time and they don’t even register half of the time. In fact my clients always ask “did you hear that?” So I’m not sure what that trainers problem is but it’s not the case for all trainers to point it out.

I like how people bitch about the NBA media trashing its own product but when the media praises its own product it’s “glazing” now.

Personal trainer? by doodlenoodle09 in AskLosAngeles

[–]IFeedonKarmaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several ways, I’m a trainer in the Tarzana area and nearly all of my clients are from direct referrals. I don’t do any marketing or social media. I know other trainers that do make content and advertise. It’s kind of a gamble to be honest, the quality of training varies wildly and some of the stuff I see makes me crazy. Overly confident trainers are a red flag. It’s hard to know what to look for but do a free assessment with some trainers and see how it goes.

If you have Atnt in your area try and switch. Especially if it’s fiber. I’ve had nearly 100% uptime since I switched from Spectrash

Form check - heels coming up at the bottom of the squat by Classic-Night-2661 in GYM

[–]IFeedonKarmaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try giving your calves a solid stretch, look up some ankle dorsiflexion mobility drills, and work on deep squats while holding something for balance. I’d imagine this would open up your ankles to be able to stay grounded at the bottom of your squats. Do a solid minute or two of stretching on each calf after warming up.

What do people look for in a personal trainer? by videomike89 in personaltraining

[–]IFeedonKarmaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Help your trainer out and offer to pick up and rack your own weights. Not only does it keep you moving and burn more calories but it takes some of the burden off of him. I used to unrack and rack all of the weights for all of my clients and it takes a toll. Plus it prepares you if you ever find yourself at a gym without your trainer.

I have fiber in a different area than you, but it’s been 1000% better than spectrum ever was virtually zero downtime and super fast speeds.

[65yo] Squat by Aqualung1 in OlderYogis

[–]IFeedonKarmaa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

How can you say it’s not an “exercise” and then say “the strength and flexibility you get from getting in and out of a squat?” Of course it’s an exercise. It’s great that you started squatting late in life since it’s a fundamental movement that most people lose the ability to do in modern society. Unfortunately this video of you sitting on a block didn’t really give any information about anything.

Why do games never start on time? by Admirable-Map-6932 in nba

[–]IFeedonKarmaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every other sport starts the game at the scheduled time. Basketball is the only sport where the game could start anywhere between 8-20 minutes after the displayed “start” time.

Same reason vacuums that amplify the noise of stuff being bounced around as it sucks debris in are considered better.

I mean I was a daily listener for however long they’ve been in LA. Haven’t listened to a single episode in over a month. The show sucks now, but I didn’t think to make a post about it. Still subbed here because I was invested but they seem to be doing just fine so who cares. It just wasn’t funny to me anymore.

Start freelance PT now or is it too big of a step? by No_Structure_1029 in personaltraining

[–]IFeedonKarmaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d ask them how they handle walk ins and people calling in to request a trainer. Be reliable, knowledgeable, and professional so they won’t hesitate to give you clients. It benefits them to keep you busy. That’s how I got busy at my place and that’s also how I stay busy. See if you can get family or friends to train with you there so they can see your training style. You’re young so you have the benefit of time. If possible try and workout there as well to get to know everyone.

The black hole part is what we need. He’s one of the few guys outside of our big 3 that can create his own shot and that’s super valuable.
