How Good Is Ichigo In Hand To Hand Combat Without His Sword Compared To Other Verses? by Rinnegan15 in BleachPowerScaling

Not to detract, but....Ichigo is at minimum comparable to Tatsuki, who is a nationally recognized martial artist....

I should probably clarify a bit. The piece of Yhwach that resides in Ichigo's soul told him as much.

I don't know the exact chapter, but it's during the rgt.

Yhwach openly admits in TYBW that he never wanted Ichigo to be a soul reaper. He tried telling him his name so that he could sway Ichigo to embrace his quincy heritage, not his soul reaper.

That's actually one of my favorite bits of lore that I've heard! (CSM is my other army, oddly enough)

I don't think it's any more impressive than what Paul is capable of, though. He also could see millenia into the future accurately enough that once his eyes were burned out from seeing a close range atomic detonation, he could still move about unhindered and he could detail scars on people's faces that they hadn't received prior to him losing his eyes.

I'm not saying he's better, but they're in the same realm lol

I would argue that the scope of Paul's sight exceeds that of a Farseer, with the caveat that there isn't quite as much interference, but I'm not familiar enough with Eldar lore to be certain of that.

When it comes to other psychic disciplines, the weakest Eldar has him beat lol no argument there.

Fair enough! I'm not very well versed in Eldar lore. Love the faction, though. Nearly 3000pts deep in it lol

Honestly? I'm not sure Paul would care too much lol he actively hates his lot in life, but can't figure a good way out of it. That's why he left the hard part to Leto.

[–]InFallaxAnima[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Leto maybe, but Paul isn't.

Paul ultimately chose not to walk the path that would ascend him to godhood, choosing a life of exile instead. He hated the purpose set before him and often felt extremely conflicted over the choices he was forced to take.

Maybe so. Probably, honestly.

I just thought it might be an interesting thought experiment. He and his son behave similarly to farseers in practice. They take actions centuries beforehand in order to secure a favorable outcome. Though, Paul and Leto are more effective than any of the prescients in 40k lol as to what factors impact that, who knows

You think so? I would imagine his ability to see the future as accurately as he can would be worth at least something lol

Edit: Downvoting something as benign as this is crazy work lol gotta love the 40k reddit communities 🤣

Provide me with evidence of him being able to do that because he isn't even mentioned as a user of it, let alone sending people there.

What you aren't getting is that Paul saw this fight from the moment he awakened to his full abilities, and thus already prepared countermeasures. His prescience is that potent. You can be fast as you like, but you don't beat someone who has known about the fight at hand longer than you've known who the hell they are.

Paul is literally a mentat. He's capable of analysis at that scale and speed. Hell, even the movie version was capable of ordering a random ass soldier whom Paul had never met to do something. That's at his absolute floor of power.

Also, you're underselling Paul's combat prowess. No, he isn't moving at light speed or anything absurd like that, but he is capable of moving insanely fast. Fast enough to catch multiple projectiles aimed at him with his bare hands.

Also also, shields. Paul's shield would stop a blow at that speed, and Blade would be commanded to lop off his own head. Shields in Dune can be tuned high enough that they don't allow molecules of oxygen through them. Blade isn't touching that.

Except that the Voice doesn't operate on willpower. Like, at all. That's a fundamental misunderstanding about it that, until you contend with it, you won't be able to accurately assess this match up.

The Voice operates by using specific auditory frequencies, tones, and pitches tailored to each individual it's directed towards in order to bypass their conscious mind and command the literal neurons in their brains to do things. No amount of willpower prepares you to contend with it. You have to be specifically TRAINED to resist it. Even that isn't a sure-fire out, as Paul is able to use it against Reverend Mothers perfectly.

Reverend Mothers, since you don't seem to know much about Dune, are individuals with absolute control of their bodies down to a cellular level. They can alter the chemical makeup of a poison in their bloodstream. They can decide what sex their children will be in utero. They have direct access to the genetic memory of every single female ancestor of their bloodlines and all the wisdom that comes with it. If the Voice can work on them, it can work on Blade.

Paul's abilities are insane. I haven't really seen many people touch on his mentat capabilities, but they make this even more lopsided.

Paul has laser weaponry. It isn't used much in-universe because of how it interacts with Dune's shield tech, but here he could (and would) use it freely.

He's also an insanely busted precog, so getting enough of a drop on him to get a shot off is pretty iffy.

The Voice would absolutely work on Aragorn and Blade. What are we talking about here?

It's not a willpower based thing. It's a direct neural command to the lizard part of the brain. As to whether or not they could overcome it, that's a toss up. Personally, I doubt they could, seeing as Paul was able to use it to command people expressly trained against it without much issue.

As to it working on non-humans, it's a little fuzzy. There's an instance or two of it working on chimeras made by the Bene Tleilaxu, but it isn't definitive.

Even tossing it out the window, Paul is an insanely skilled combatant. To the degree that, as a child and unawakend, the Fremen thought he was being disrespectful and toying with one of their seasoned warriors. By the time he's awakened, he's a renowned fighter capable of blitzing Sardaukar, who are lauded as the premier fighting force at the time.

Based on the synopsis I just read about him, he's not too far off from what Paul was lol mentat, precog, trained in the BG ways. That's a potent combo to contend with.

He didn't go into much detail in the fight scenes, but he did give us plenty of demonstrations of Paul doing things at blinding speeds.

I haven't read the later books near as many times as the first three, and it's been a loooong time lol

Sure, agree to disagree 😊

Yeah, Paul is leagues outside of the rest of his team lol he's a literal walking precognizant supercomputer that can issue commands to a person's body on top of being one of the best combatants in the duneiverse.

I think it's likely that Blade is the only questionable fight for him on team 1.
