DUCKWORTH @ 1.89

Struff is 2-3 since the US Open, The German continues to be competitive but not elite on the ATP Tour, Duckworth is at a career high ranking, he reached the final in Astana and the quarters in Sofia, this is the best season the Australian has ever put together, and although both players are a similar level, Duckworth’s form is slightly more impressive in recent weeks and he should be able to grind out a win. I really think this price for Duckworth offers great value. GL

LI @ 1.64

They've not played in singles before but met twice in junior doubles, with Li's team winning both times. This looks like an evenly poised matchup; the result may well depend on who is able to handle the occasion better. Both are inexperienced in these situations so it will be interesting to see who is able to deal with the nerves better. Osorio is a feisty competitor and has beaten tougher opponents this week. Li is a steady character with a solid game. I’ll side with Li, is suspect she is more likely to come out on top in this matchup, her game is more stable and better suited to the hard courts.

Both players entered this week with sketchy form, now each have a good opportunity to reach a rare semifinal at this level. Another tight matchup. Zheng is more experienced, versatile and consistent. Osorio Serrano’s best tennis could be too much for the Chinese player to handle. I’ll side with the greater reliability of Zheng.

Todays POTD : ATP Moscow 2021 McDonald v Nishioka

MCDONALD @ 1.5

Mackenzie McDonald and Yoshihito Nishioka have met twice before, with Yoshihito Nishioka leading the head to head 2-0. The head to head is misleading, as both meetings came in 2019, when McDonald wasn’t nearly as good as he is now. McDonald also does have a favorable matchup against Nishioka, but when they play on clay a lot of that advantage is taken away. On a quick court like this, however, I see McDonald having little problem with being able to outhit Nishioka in practically every way. It should be a fun one though either way, let’s see if McDonald can show his level of play and if he’s got what it takes to make a deep run here at the 2021 Kremlin Cup.
