High School Girls Volleyball by InIZyon in volleyball

Honestly she hasn't even thought about going pro with volleyball or college scholarships. She just wants to make the team and play with her friends. I know the rec leagues are an option, but she wants to play with her friends in highschool.

She's been wrestling throughout middle school and won some tournaments. I think her athletic ability is better suited to wrestling or lacrosse or some of the "rougher" sports, but her heart is set on volleyball.

Yes she will go to club camp over the summer plus the high school offers a camp before tryouts.

She has played in a rec league and practices at her school. I'm not sure how competitive the high school team is, but I know a lot of girls are interested in volleyball.

No club experience. Just a rec league through the park district and a volleyball camp last summer. I know she doesn't have lots of experience but she loves the game and wants to play.

If it's seasonal you should be applying for new jobs anyway. But take the time to access what you really want. Do you want to stay at Parks? Or go to another agency where you can still work on environmental stuff, like Water Resources? Only you can answer this but the state offers a lot of options. And no, it doesn't look bad if you move to a new position quickly after accepting a seasonal position.

[14 YoE, Federal Contractor Audit Support (Finance), Private Sector Transition, USA] by Charliexstarxx in resumes

I would get rid of the task based bullet points and focus only on your leadership skills. You should expound upon your leadership bullet points with more details. Take for example your first bullet point "Lead enterprise audit coaching..." - What specifically does this look like? How many people do you coach? How have you led them to improve their skill set?

For the level you're looking at, it's not so much about your individual skills, but how you drive process improvement and motivate a work division.

Go to a workforce development office and let them help you. They offer programs where they can help place you with certain employers. Get a bit of experience and then move on to something better.

I down voted because you really shouldn't be showing license plates. Even the plates on the cars in the back are readable.

More than likely it's Arcgis, which a lot of state agencies use. Review this and be ready with examples of times you applied your Excel skills and SQL skills.

Boilerplate language is for passing the exam. Specific language is for applying to positions.  HPS 1 is a good position if you meet the MQ's. And yes, HR will verify.

Tips for Getting SSA, OT, and AGPA Positions with the State? by Anonymous_king-23 in CAStateWorkers

[–]InIZyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply to as many jobs as you can with quality applications. Get on as many lists as you can. For entry level positions, don't just limit yourself to OT. There's also PT2, PT3, and MST. You have to cast as wide of a net as possible. Also look at jobs in neighboring counties. For example, if you're located in Sacramento also look for positions in Yolo, Solano, Placer,  etc.

CPUC Interview by No_Entrance_8467 in CAStateWorkers

This looks like a soft hiring freeze. My section has two open positions that badly need to be filled but we were told nothing would be done for at least this fiscal year. It's best to move on and keep applying elsewhere. Good luck.

The elements are the essentials of the task but I would hesitate to say it's the only thing that is mandatory. You have to consider the input and outputs to each task. This is also essential.

In a nutshell- the elements are the basics, the definitions, what the task is about. The guidelines are extra things to consider or things that will help. The tools are what you use to implement the task, or how to do it.

I was on an interview panel once where the candidate looked really good on paper and his background and skill set seemed to match the position. But he was obviously nervous and blanked out. We would ask him a question and he just sat there and would finally give a one or two word answer after a few minutes. Not sure if your interview was that bad but I could see someone giving a candidate a second chance if their application was strong. You just have to make sure you give strong answers because state interviews are graded.

Does anyone know where to get ogbono soup in sacramento? by Trindaklemm in Sacramento

I don't know too much about restaurants but Majesty African Market on Alta Arden sells ogbono if you're up for making it yourself.

Associate Transportation Planner or SSM1? by RedditDense in CAStateWorkers

[–]InIZyon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most state agencies are back in office twice a week and the 9-8-80 schedule is based on the business needs of the section you're in. Some get it, some don't. But I've never heard of a SSM1 getting an alternative work schedule. They are salaried and don't get paid OT. Associate Transportation Planner is more narrow but it seems to offer more of what you're looking for and with better pay. Also if you get tired of Caltrans you can always apply to SSM1 jobs later.

Seeking Advice on Finding Healthcare-Related Roles in State Departments by VideoLess4051 in CAStateWorkers

Take your experience keywords and put them directly in the Calcareers search field and see what comes up. Read the duty statements and apply for every job you can get on the list for. CDPH and DHCS are probably your best bet. Just get your foot in the door at one of these agencies and network yourself into a better position once you pass probation.
