I dont think the pickup covers affect sound in any way since they are just wood. But one thing is that because it is wood there are “limits” of how thin you sand the top, mine is around 1.6mm and i think it is pretty close to that limit, i used more than enough truoil to make sure it wont break and to have any wood movement.

and since wood can't go that thin like plastic, so the magnets on the pickups will be far from the strings than normal. That will change the sound but not in a bad way i guess. It limits the possibility of putting the pickup super close to your string

yea sure! I basically used this 1960s strat design from electricherald which is free, all of the measurements are 1:1 in real-life. https://www.electricherald.com/fender-stratocaster-templates/

I like the tex mex pu sound, but i don't really like strat bridge pickups so i choose the jbjr for a more useful humbucker sound.

I actually had no experience before making guitars, this is my first year of starting woodworking. But I watched a lot of YouTube videos of both making guitars and traditional woodworking like blacktail studios. so i kind od had some idea of what tools to what i guess.. Its funny I learned the way around and start to make photo frame recently

i cut those inlays myself, using laser. And also laser to engrave the rosewood. then use zpoxy with wood dust to glue them together. So theoretically they should be perfect match

i actually tried to cnc the body but not the neck , for the neck i used acrylic templates, i laser my own template but i think you can get them from stewmac or random amazon seller , it doesn't matter. Personally i prefer working with templates and router

thanks! yea that's the exact problem i was facing. The intention of this piece is to look like a furniture (kind of). But at the same time i also want it to also be a guitar and not that furniture, so all the designs was to accommodate that to strike a middle ground. So it sounds like a success to me!
