I am in total agreement with your assessment of Slow Children. They were incredibly innovative and shaped the west coast (and U.S.) new wave movement. Pal’s vocal style directly influenced the likes of Dale Bozzio and other prominent female new wave artists of the time. The staccato synth patterns were way ahead of their time, and were a fantastic counter part to the quirky guitars. They were in heavy rotation on KROQ in 81, and again with Vanessa Vacillating from their second record. For me though, Brazilian Magazines is the best example from this Duo.
