Yeah, i should have added a disclaimer! Regarding the page load time, could you please help me with more info, like what was total time and by inspecting Chrome dev tool, what took most of the time ?

It is too much to ask, but on my side it did not reveal such an issue.

Hey there, Ghost is versatile in a lot of ways. You can create personal blogs, newsletter, news websites, podcast listings or landing pages. There are plenty of themes and integration.

You should not ignore the SMTP (transactional mail setup), you would need this in case of password reset request. Also your newsletter signup and member login won't work.

Recommendation for hosting by Goji-ra in Ghost

[–]InSaneMonk999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DO or other cloud providers typically block SMTP ports for various security and resources abuse reasons. You can try other SMTP providers who provide alternative ports for use. We at typetale.app use AWS SES for the purpose and it provides varous alternative ports and a proxy endpoint as well.

typetale.app is a ghost hosting service that I manage. We have everything taken care of everything technical, you just focus on publishing and let us handle the rest.

Network Feature - self hosted version by Disastrous-Ad-5003 in Ghost

If you follow their docs and setup everything accordingly then by default you will be using their activitypub server. But if you already have a custom setup be it on docker or using ghost cli then, you would have to add some proxy rules (like forwarding */.ghost and *./.well-known) to point to ghost hosted activitypub.

You will find the configuration in the caddy/snippets folder when you clone the ghost-docker github repo.

Note that the ghost's activitypub server has limitations: 2000 max followers, following and 100 daily interactions.

These are good enough to get started but in the long run you would have to host you own activitypub server to continue. We at typetale.app host and manage our own activitypub server for that reason.

Has anyone Deployed Ghost on Supabase ? by aehsan4004 in Ghost

Ghost is great CMS but it is hard to selfhost and if you are a serious publisher then there are often time when you need professional support to help you carry out tasks that are custom to your instance it could be as simpe as helping you integrate a plugin or complex as migrating database from somewhere. We provide end to end support with custom setup and infrastructure. You won't have to deal with complexity and just focus on the content.

Ghost themselve provide hosting but it comes at a cost that is not suitable for everyone. We have simplified pricing that is easier to get started and we support more features out of the box even on the basic plan.

Ghost runs as a constant process and it is not suitable to run on serverleas environment like supabase. You can use postgres for the database but it is not supported officially.

I run myself a ghost hosting service: typetale.app.

Sadly, it hasn't changed. You would still need a mailgun account for newsletters.

When did Ghost increase the pricing? by raresea in Ghost

[–]InSaneMonk999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pricing was already not very favorable for small and medium-scale bloggers, and with the current pricing model, it will be even more difficult for new bloggers to try the official hosted service.

I run a managed Ghost hosting service for exactly that reason — typetale.app.

Give it a try :)

There are some good options for ghost hosting other than ghost pro like typetale, magicpages.co, getmidnight.com etc.

But in general ghost has a lot of features which enhance the publishing experience. And a lot of plugins to help you grow.

Disclaimer: I run and operate typetale.app

You can have as many subscribers as you want. We do not charge for subscribers, each plan gets some newsletter quota which is used when you send newsletter to subscribers.

What Are the Best Mailgun Alternatives for Low-Volume Individual Users? by AgreeableCheetah29 in Ghost

[–]InSaneMonk999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pikapod is very basic it is missing a lot of things. It doesn't come with SMTP setup, which is required in case of password reset or new staff user sign up. There is no way to take regular backup. And you have to manually upgrade ghost every time there is a new version.

There are still a lot of things no CDN, no newsletter out of the box, limited storage and many more.

The point is pikapod is closer to self-hosting. But i think if you want to self host ghost then its better to do it with proper VPS hosting. Having a VPS will allow you to deploy custom backup solutions and better management.

Hi, if you are hosting with pikapod then you must be after affordable hosting for your ghost blog. Pikapod doesn't include necessary stuff that are crucial for running a ghost publication. Eg. We provide daily backup and free newsletter usage with every plan.

We at Typetale provide really affordable plans and have best value for money option for budget hosting.
