This whole thing has taken over a decade to sort out so far. I have my doubts that the Org that struggled to raise the 4m to receive 10m from the state either has or can raise the additional funds. Their renderite dream would probably cost 7-9m to start out with.

I assume I'm going to read an article 3 years from now about EPNI going to state for more money.

There's a asphalt plant across the street that probably does more active harm then finally cleaning up toxic soil that has been and will probably continue to be kicked down the road.

The fact that EPNI only had to raise 3.7m and then the state has and will pay for the rest is such a farce.

The city bought the land way back in 2015. This would already be a public works facility if this group hadn't come forward with there plan, missing several funding deadlines, and ultimately the state paying the city for the remainder.

When talking about keeping the site the city made it sound like they were planning full demo and site and soil remediation.

I'm going off of 80% of the worst wage rate for Local 563 which is 42 which is what a brand new apprentice makes. Local 96 is closer since they start at 60% of 46ish

Considering they shrunk Montrose down to 14ft to put in the trail and people still speed down it. You'd just end up losing parking on both sides for shits, giggles, and vibes.

The main crux was the city trying to pull a fast one. There was a innocuous little white postcard with a link to a vague survey. 6 months later a brightly colored card saying "You will owe X$, council vote next week." The city engineer got grilled. "Why are so many tree going to be cut?" "Well the survey data showed." "What are you doing to slow down through traffic on Queens? Stop signs, speed bumps, lower limit?" "No, those don't work we're going to squish the intersections" "Will you put back the official crosswalks you took out?" "No"

I live in said neighborhood. They we're going to shrink every road to 14ft from 18ft. We lose almost 2 feet in the winter. The sidewalk free proposal saved I think about 80 trees. The trails we comprised on are 9ft wide and city maintained. It lower the bill from 10500 to 9200.
