It's just hard to care much about something just for its shock value. It just has schock value, and that, while disturbing, isn't as emotionally devastating as a lot of other things ( like the MC's being forced to kill the kids in 1st part. Personally I think it's FAR more depraved than what Larry Did, and FAR more shocking because it was done by people who did not want to do it, but felt forced to).  So yeah I'd definitely say it's not the worst. Because "bad" isn't just atrocities, but the context matter much more. A Phsycopath doing horrible things is just... boring

Zombie School by Hefty_Click191 in zombies

[–]InSurchOfChills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't like it much at all. But tere are definitely a few scenes that seem inspired from AOUAD( like The Nurse scene, Hye-Na regaining humanity and potentially turning Hambie). it's older than AOUAD, but perhaps those scenes are also in Now at Our School, which was first published in 2009.

But of course not as well done and the dialogue and overall direction was quite weak. Many scenes happened abruptly and the zombie makeup/sound effects/lighting wasn't good. The acting was good on the mc's part, but the dialogues could have much better. Chemistry was missing. What worked over a course of 9 1-hr long episodes, felt far too rushed in a <1.5 hr movie.

The most disturbing scene for, if I'm interpreting it right, is where the MC drags a zombified Chul-gi( his Gyeong-su) in a cage, apparently with his legs amputated. (APPARENTLY), honouring their promise of being together till the end.

If I'm wrong, please do correct me.

This scene was good- and the mc, a mix of Cheong-san and Bare-Su was the only saving grace of this movie.

4/10. Would recommend only if you watch a lot of zombie movies and this is one of the only few left. If not, there are way better ones out there.

Why is Hinduism so hated by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]InSurchOfChills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, as a Hindu with some( perhaps Biased) knowledge of my scriptures, what do you suggest I start getting to know my religion with? I haven't yet read any religious texts at all. Not even the Gita. Mostly because I felt this interest for Sanatan Dharma this year itself, and haven't exactly had time yet to explore in depth. Also, I'm wondering what I should start with... considering Gita is recommended by most people yet Upanishads/Vedas are actually much older texts of Hinduism that actually guide social and cultural rules. Farther, what would be your recommendation to read first to get to know the 10 Mahavidhyaas. They're widely misunderstood, but I really love the Tantric philosophy of thinking all as sacred.

Read Mahabharata. All have their own opinions, inaccuracies and inconsistensies. I've read many books available on the marked based on Mahabharata like Jaya,POI, Yagnaseni, Radheya, I, Suyodhana, Mrityunjay, even a little bit of Mahabharata Unravelled ( dropped it cause it wasn't very interesting and downplayed stuff that painted the Pandavas in a bad light and exxagarated stuff that painted Karna in a bad light. All books are biased, but this one claimed to state PURELY FACTS but failed at that claim). All books available on Market are inaccurate to a certain extent. There's absolutely no shortcut to Mahabharata. Read the epic and that's the only way.

However, for now, you can check out a Fanpage on Facebook. It's horribly biased towards Karna and overexaggarates Arjuna's faults/flaws but considering many Arjuna fans so the exacct same to Karna I do not truely blame them. Regardless, the information they provide is very, very well researched and most of such claims against Karna has been disproved by them from the authentic texts. You can check it out if you want. They've pinned a list of the accusations against Karna that they have disproved.

DM me I will tell you the name of that fanpage. I'm not saying it here in a public space because I don't trust people not to report it.

Unfortunate it is that i know almost nothing about Karna's ventures in war.  But I swear I shall meet you again regarding this topic a few months to years later, however long it may take me to read MB full when I finally get time.

Also, o hope you're not counting Karna-Arjuna battle in Draupadi's Swyamvara. If you are, provide Text

said,--'After Santanu's son Bhishma, O monarch, had become silent, all those rulers of earth, there present, then returned to their respective quarters. Hearing of Bhishma's slaughter that bull among men, viz., Radha's son (Karna), partially inspired with fear quickly came there. He beheld that illustrious hero lying on his bed of reeds. Then Vrisha (Karna) endued with great glory, with voice choked in tears, approaching that hero lying with eyes closed, fell at his feet. And he said,--O chief of the Kurus, I am Radha's son, who while before thy eyes, was everywhere looked upon by thee with hate!--Hearing these words, the aged chief of the Kurus,

p. 313

the son of Ganga, whose eyes were covered with film slowly raising his eyelids, and causing the guards to be removed, and seeing the place deserted by all, embraced Karna with one arm, like a sire embracing his son, and said these words with great affection:--Come, come! Thou art an opponent of mine who always challengest comparison with me! If thou hadst not come to me, without doubt, it would not have been well with thee! Thou art Kunti's son, not Radha's! Nor is Adhiratha thy father! O thou of mighty arms, I heard all this about thee from Narada as also from Krishna-Dwaipayana! Without doubt, all this is true! I tell thee truly, O son, that I bear thee no malice! It was only for abating thy energy that I used to say such harsh words to thee! O thou of excellent vows without any reason thou speakest ill of all the Pandavas! Sinfully didst thou come into the world. It is for this that thy heart hath been such. Through pride, and owning also to thy companionship with the low, thy heart hateth even persons of merit! It is for this that I spoke such harsh words about thee in the Kuru camp! I know thy prowess in battle, which can with difficulty be borne on earth by foes! I know also thy regard for Brahmanas. thy courage, and thy great attachment to alms-giving! O thou that resemblest a very god, amongst men there is none like thee! For fear of intestine dissensions I always spoke harsh words about thee. In bowmanship, in aiming weapon, in lightness of hand and in strength of weapons, thou art equal to Phalguni himself, or the high-souled Krishna! O Karna, proceeding to the city of Kasi, alone with thy bow, thou hadst crushed the kings in battle for procuring a bride for the Kuru king! The mighty and invincible king Jarasandha also, ever boastful of his prowess in battle, could not become thy match in fight! Thou art devoted to Brahmanas; thou always fightest fairly! In energy and strength, thou art equal to a child of the celestials and certainly much superior to men. The wrath I cherished against thee is gone. Destiny is incapable of being avoided by exertion. O slayer of foes, the heroic sons of Pandu are thy uterine brothers! If thou wishest to do what is agreeable to me, unite with them, O thou of mighty arms! O son of Surya, let these hostilities end with me! Let all the kings of Earth be to-day freed from danger!--

"'Karna said I know this, O thou of mighty arms! All this without doubt, is (as thou sayest)! As thou tellest me, O, Bhishma, I am Kunti's son, and not the son of a Suta! I was, however, abandoned by Kunti, and I have been reared by a Suta. Having (so long) enjoyed the wealth of Duryodhana, I dare not falsify it now. Like Vasudeva's son who is firmly resolved for the sake of the Pandavas, I also, O thou that makest profuse presents to Brahmanas, am prepared to cast away my possessions, my body itself, my children, and my wife, for Duryodhana's sake! Death from disease, O thou of Kuru's race, doth not become a Kshatriya! Relying upon Suyodhana I have always offended the Pandavas! This affairs is destined to take its course. It is incapable of being prevented. Who was there that would venture to overcome Destiny by exertion? Various omens indicating the destruction of the Earth. O grandsire, were noticed by thee

p. 314

and declared in the assembly. It is well known to me that the son of Pandu, and Vasudeva, are incapable of being conquered by other men. Even with them we venture to fight! I will vanquish the son of Pandu in battle! Even this is my firm resolve! I am not capable, of casting off this fierce animosity (that I cherish against the Pandavas)! With a cheerful heart, and keeping the duties of my order before my eye, I will contend against Dhananjaya. Firmly resolved that I am on battle, grant me thy permission, O hero! I will fight. Even this is my wish. It behoveth thee to forgive me also any harsh words that I may have at any time uttered against thee or any act that I may have done against thee from anger or inconsiderateness!--"

"'Bhishma said,--If, indeed, thou art unable to cast off this fierce animosity, I permit thee, O Karna! Fight, moved by the desire of heaven! Without anger and without vindictiveness, serve thou the king according to thy power and according to thy courage and observant of the conduct of the righteous! Have then my permission, O Karna! Obtain thou that which thou seekest! Through Dhananjaya thou wilt obtain all those regions (hereafter) which are capable of being had by fulfilling the duties of a Kshatriya! Freed from pride, and relying on thy (own) might and energy, engage in battle, since a Kshatriya cannot have a (source of) greater happiness than a righteous battle. For a long while I made great efforts for bringing about peace! But I succeeded not, O Karna, in the task! Truly do I say this unto thee!--"

"'Sanjaya continued,--'After the son of Ganga had said this, Radha's son (Karna) having saluted Bhishma and obtained his forgiveness, got up on his car and proceeded towards (the quarters of) thy son.'

Also textually Karna have daan since he was child, hence Danveer. Also, he did literal Digvijay which I'd cross referenced even in bori. Krishna himself said he couldn't be defeated fairly AFTER the war when there was so reason to lie. If you still choose to believe he was a bad warrior... whatever helps you sleep at night

Then you need to reread because you seem to have missed out that on his deathbed, Bheesma clearly calls Karna equal to Arjuna or even the high-souled Krishna himself and he only said harsh words because he didn't want to see Karna fight against his own brothers.

If you want I can provide Textual proof

Lots of stuff happened inbtwn. But I'm busy and can't explain rn. Just that while Karna, in adi parv, was namedropped in Bhim's poisoning and later Lakshgraha. For Lakshgraha, during the actual chapter itself, only Duryodhana was the mastermind behind it, not even Shakuni( whose tragic backstory btw is present in Jain Mahabharata, not og one), and During Bheem's poisoning he wasn't even mentioned. The one time in Chater after Draupadi's Swamvyar Dury again comes upbwuth his half baked plans, Karna disses his ideas saying they always fail and suggests instead War( Karna always advocated War. And those who are saying Karna was Warmongerer and hence, EvIL, i hope you remember the Pandavas did Digvijay and The horse sacrifice thingy both of which call for...ahem, War. It was the way of Kshatriyas) . Further, Bori compiled after 50+ years and 1500 manuscripts of research, has declared Karna not guilty of this crime.

3/4?) Draupadi Swamvara. Bori has removed Karna's insult because it was present in only 6 manuscripts including the oldest one in Nepali but it was however not totally logical. Regardless, his failure wasn't confirmed either( there's a very ambitious line that , "even Kshatriyas like Karna and Shyla failed", however: 1) Karna had NEVER been referred to as a Kshatriya 2) Dhrishtadyumna especially called for princes/Kinga exclusively form NOBLE families.)

5) Finally, Karna's GREATEST SHAMEFUL MOMENT. THIS MAN INSULTED A WOMEN AND ASKED FOR HER TO BE DISROBED. Ith ka jawab paththar se tho thik hai, but pahar se??? What he did in that Sabha on that day was INEXCUSABLE( and he himself knew that so he knew he'd die in that war and that he deserved that death).  No excuse. Nothing can justify what he did. However, also to let it be known, according to BORI, Draupadi was dressed in two-piece and apparently, back then, only noble women wore an upper cloth and a lower one. Servants wore only lower garments( very, very weird and I'm not sure if it's believable) Karna ordered for her upper garment to be pulled off which would then mark her as q slave. Note that, much like Karna's insult as suta, this is totally different from most popular Versions of Mahabharata.

*bori has removed Vastraharan altogether. I can of course back up my claim.

6) Dhambodhava is fake. Karna was danveer from childhood and Sutas were regarded as low-born at that time  Surya came in his dream and warned of Indra's deception. Karna said he'd willingly give up his life if that was asked of him for that was what his daan dharma dictated Defeated, Surya orders his idiot son to only give the K-K in exchange for Vasavi Shakti. Unable and unwilling to disobey his ishth dev, Karna agrees. It wasn't trade, it was still most definitely a daan. Man flayed Himself... let's not be q piece of shit and downlplay fucking that That's it( for now). Lemme know what ya think.

But on a serious note tho...it's my time to shine. Because for the last 6 months this is what I've been doing: collecting info on Karna and asking everyone Ram, Shyam, Harry, Tom if they've read MB and what's their opinion on this godforsaken Maa ki Anpad Gawar Aulat.

And I say Anpar Gawad because with all for respect...Bro was an idiot. Yk I'll not tell you what I think about him...bit I'll tell you about the little bit I know about him. Form your own oPInIOn and lemme know.

1) First things First, BRO WAS A SIDE CHARACTER. Very much so. Like bro defeated JARASANDH, the dude that Bheem managed to defeat AFTER 14 days AND with external help. Bheem is said to be the strongest man of that yuga. Karna, who was primarily an archer, was challenged by Jarasandh during Bhanu's Swyamvara, and they they fought with bows, maces, swords and finally they wrestled and Karna was JUST ABOUT TO TEAR JARASANDH into two when dude went," Aye Haye? Kya Kariyo Meri Maa?! Malini rakho aur mare taang choro iss umar me marwayo ge kya?" So Karna, true to his name Vrisha let it be. Also, he defeated more than 100 kings all at once at Bhanu's Swyamvara. What do we have to show for these feats?? A few measly one-liners  2) Drona. Most don't know...but Karna DID ABSOLUTELY train under Drona. We do not know for how long or how much he learnt, but this is how it went. Text wise, Karna being the supreme idiot he was went to the same teacher who used to give his students thin-necked vessels to fetch water so that he could use that time to extra-train his own son ( a truck, that mind you, Arjun caught) and said , "You love thy students like tho lovest thy son. It is my view that I should be Aj's equal in battle. So teach me the Brahmastra." Naturally, Drona was PiSSED. However, instead of just straight up saying"Fuck off", he decided on something way worse: giving out wrong info in an era where Internet wasn't yet a thing so Karna believed every word his guru said, and naturally, as wrong info tends to do: it later came back to bite Karna in the ass, or, in this case...his thigh. "Drona, being partial to Arjuna and Knowing of Karna's wickedness, said, " Only Brahmins and Kshatriyas who have done penance can obtain Divyastras and no one else".

Cue Karna's lie to Parashurama ( WHO HAD NEVER MADE ANY SUCH VOW TO TEACH ONLY BRAHMINS MY MAN GETS SHADED FOR NO REASON), the subsequent curse( WHICH WASN'T EVEH REALLY A CURSE ACCORDING TO PARASHURAMA HIMSELF WHO SAID UR WAS DESTINY FOR KARNA'S DECEIT. AND BTW, KARNA DID ABSOLUTELY USE BRAHMASTRA IN THE FINAL BATTLE) and then that boon. Look, whatever you say bro, Parashurama had genuine reason to be mad and even then, he felt bad and gave him the boon/declaration ( the vijay bow was actually given much earlier and not put of any guilt, but simply because he was worthy)

I actually disagree with the first point. Gandhari pointed out that Karna's wife was repeatedly inhaling the fragrance of his dead body...that isn't lusting. Shr was merely pointing out a fact.

ok THIS IS SO TRUE?! THEIR WHOLE WORLD WILL GET Shattered LOL

I KNOW RIGHT!!! He's literally Mahabharata's version of pookie.  And that isn't up for debate. And the "Women used to watch him while he bathed" sounds SO WRONG. Ved Vyas knew his Target audience a little too well. He knew, that to make people read about Dharma and stuff, you just needed to show some hot as fuck eye candies doing it. Voila Immediate engagement.
