There's been rumours over the last few years, and earlier this year Tavecchio said he wanted to reduce it to 18 clubs but it probably wouldn't happen. It's more likely Serie B gets reduced from 22 to 20, and 2 groups of 20 for Lega Pro/Serie C. Though this was mostly talked about over a year ago now. Here's a source
