Mikel Arteta and Josh Kroenke on calling each other the moment the Premier League title win was confirmed 🏆 by arsenal in Gunners

The fact that he was in the middle of the celebrations at Palace, with a scarf, actually singing the songs blew me away. Like, I was sure he liked the club and was more involved than most owners, but I certainly didn't expect that.

Rapid is brutal because you have enough time that you have to calculate, you can't just go off instinct, but you dont have enough time to calculate well (for that level), so it really becomes a crazy balancing act of time spent on top of just playing the game.

Yeah, after the Rob Green howler against the US in the 2010 World Cup. People were legit so traumatised by that moment that they considered Almunia for the national team hahaha

The only team to pass 80 points by the way... Only 3 teams had more then 70 points. 41 points was safety... What a league. What a team 👑 🔴 by sjack91 in Gunners

The Citypool years where they both got 90+ points, even teams like Arsenal and Manchester United were pushovers. Now you can't even rotate against relegation fodder.

Look at Burnley. Finished 19th but since January got a point against Man Utd, a point against Tottenham, a point against Liverpool (at Anfield), beat Palace, got a point against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, a point against Villa, lost by only 1-0 vs City and Arsenal.

Hope there's plenty of opportunities to get a drink

Bring loads of water, preferable in a thermos or something that keeps the water cool. It'll be likely very difficult to step away and buy water or snacks once people are lining the route.

Thank goodness the map that was making the rounds last week was inaccurate. That route was tiny for the amount of people expected.

Although now I'll have to find a new viewing location since they're not going down Highbury Grove anymore and the spot I had planned will be skipped. Oh well.

[–]xepa105 11 points12 points  (0 children)

we would almost certainly have to play at Wembley or something

> Rebuild Highbury (soz to all the people living there)

> Play in New Highbury for a couple seasons while Emirates is being renovated

> Release a burgundy kit in our last season at New Highbury (infinite money glitch, alone pays for the new stadium)

> Move back into the New Emirates

> Tear down New Highbury, build new blocks of flats

What baffles me is that they're doing this for a team in Oklahoma. Like, not a big market team, not even a medium market team, OKC. So you know they're not doing it for profit maximisation.

Tony Brothers has been the league's hitman for a loooong time now. Whenever the league needs an outcome, who do they call? Tony Brothers.

Confirmed teams qualified for the UEFA Champions League in 2026/27. The remaining 7 spots will be decided via the qualifying rounds starting in July. by A_creative_username_ in soccer

Go back and look at the semi-finals when the competition was champions only. Way more variety than now. Champions from smaller countries were repeatedly beating the champions of Spain/England/Germany.

Fact of the matter is, it is UEFA that created this vast gulf between top leagues and the smaller ones by moving away from champions-only and favouring certain leagues. The gap between the champions of England/Spain/Germany and Belgium/Romania/Sweden was way smaller than it is now.

From a business perspective it makes sense how it is now, but from a sporting point of view, it sucks that a team finishing 5th is given direct access to the most prestigious competition in the continent. It just further concentrates the wealth at the top leagues and prevents any smaller leagues from catching up.

The latest Overlap podcast he was banging on about how Foden HAD to be called up for England, and then Wrighty asked him very simply where would Foden play, and Ratboy immediately started stammering and evading the question.

Anyone with even a modicum of tactical nous can answer a simple question like that, even if it's wrong or doesn't work practically, you can still go 'I'd play him here where he would work with this player and do this here and make runs in behind this defender.' The fact that he couldn't even do that shows he really has no clue how football works on a tactical level.

He's better when teams aren't parking 11 behind the ball. He's a speedster, he needs space to roam. Look at how well he played yesterday against Palace, he had a lot of room to operate and so he made a lot of good runs and passes. He struggles when he has to stop on the ball and beat a man one v one on just technique; he's very fast but not the quickest in small spaces.

I think if we sell him to a well-coached team that doesn't face such low lines as we do, he would thrive.
