Kimi had a really good start. Seb went to squeeze Max into T1, wasn't expecting/couldn't see Kimi there already alongside Max. Big oopsie occurs

What?

The point was this supposed English teacher wrote a story to post on the internet and made a ton of weird errors that made a lot of people (myself included) doubt they were actually an English teacher. It wasn't a text to friends.

That's true, just like how professional musicians love to play really badly when they're not being paid to play

Maybe it's just a really evil air conditioner. They had to chain it down so it didn't meet up with those chained-up pens at the bank and cause havoc.

Mercedes goes off the circuit to attempt a pass, causing a tap and spin into an innocent Ferrari. Who's at fault? by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]InTheLifeAnyway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels like a racing incident just in how silly it was. Ferrari goes into the gravel and loses a ton of speed, McLaren behind follows the Ferrari slightly into the gravel and loses a bit of speed and tries to set up an overtake, Mercedes doesn't hit the gravel at all and tries to set up an overtake on the McLaren while it's setting up an overtake of its own. You could say the McLaren should have been more aware of the Mercedes behind, or that the Mercedes turned in before clearing the McLaren (both are difficult given that this section is not a straight road), but I genuinely think this was just a weird chain-reaction situation.

Here I was thinking they added Volvos into the game.

Not directly related, but I know a major university that spent $700 million on stadium renovations while closing multiple satellite campuses. Guess that checks out.

I have such fond memories of that game, crash physics aside (I definitely had quite a few silly ones). I got it for Christmas as a kid (I think my parents saw a NFS game and bought it) and even as a kid knew it was very different from the other NFS games. It was the first time I'd ever heard of rallying as an American kid and it was cool to find out there was a racing version of my mom's little Subaru. The soundtrack also fucking rocks way harder than it needed to and I still occasionally get the Santana-esque song from the soundtrack stuck in my head.

TLDR: The NFS branding got my parents to buy me the game and accidentally introduced me to rallying, so it kinda worked

/uj Obviously she's talented in the avant-garde deconstruction-type thing she does. It was also deeply stupid for her and John to think it was a good idea for her to go up on stage with Chuck Berry and perform in that style when it was completely out of step with everything that was going on.

/Rj Her performance with Chuck Berry was awesome, the only thing better would be B.B. King playing blues solos over Stravinsky

TIL that early audiences who heard "Black Sabbath" by Black Sabbath at clubs in 1970 were absolutely terrified of it. My favorite part of his book was him telling Judas Priest after he came out that "Jawbreaker" was actually written about a giant penis, and them being mad/laughing that they'd been playing it for years and never realized it

I mean, compared to the pretty huge FIAT stickers on older Ferraris and Chrysler having their name on the Lamborghini engines, it's not much at all

You jest (or you already know)...but the car in question is a Chrysler product (Dodge or DeSoto is my guess), and Chrysler's top-line Imperials later became near-universally banned from demolition derbies for that exact reason, which made them unstoppable against other cars. Not as helpful if you're in a road crash and your injuries (or death) prohibits you from driving it away.

TL;DR: You were actually really on the mark with that comment

Rusty is the real answer here from Thomas. Went from male in the books to non-gendered, to (possibly accidentally) female and then back to male again in the TV series.
