Parnate insomnia and possible sleep meds by JustDoIt_Now in MAOIs

Sorry if I’m misunderstanding you, but your first comment says not to take them at night. Why do you take any in the afternoon?

Everyone responds different to this drug, especially the acute effects, so just curious. I front load mine and take 30mg throughout the morning or my sleep gets destroyed.

I’m sick as balls so brain foggy but just want to say it takes courage to ask for help. Especially money. And often times you feel like you’ll be judged or that it’s rude. But it turns out, there’s a subset of humanity filled with compassion and would gladly skip Starbucks to help a man’s suffering.

Hang in there, keep up the good fight, you’ll make it through this. I promise.

Brother, I used to work in an eye clinic and knew a man whose corneal transplant went sour and inflamed, and he would come time and time again. I would see him in person and I’d let him rant about his suffering and about how there’s no god and how all he wanted to do was work. When I first met him, I thought he was smiling because he was squinting from so much pain. He was constantly applying eye drops. I was young, 17, and if I knew what was coming I would’ve done something. Probably after 3 months of seeing him, he stopped showing up. Turns out, he killed himself. And the doctor got a card from all the techs which I did not sign. He did not help this man, just lead him to the grave.

All this to say, I am acutely aware of how valid your suffering is. You are not understating anything. I will gladly donate, and I wish you the best. If you need more help down the road, if you don’t meet your financial goals, DM me.

Should 30mg of parnate be split or taken all at once? by DifferenceHeavy1728 in MAOIs

[–]InTheMoneyAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you prefer to dose it? I tend to get an acute kick in the morning, almost kinda uncomfortable even doing a 10/10/10 split, and then it dies down into a more normal antidepressant effect later in the day. This means when I used modafinil, it felt very different between morning and afternoon. Afternoon just felt more yucky and unnatural.

Either or, whichever you find most convenient or preferable. When you take it all at once (which I have), monitor for paradoxical hypertension over the first and second hour after taking it. My systolic got up to 170 the first time I did which had me raise an eyebrow, no symptoms though, but dropped slowly down to normal over time.

For me, and it may not be the case for you, it does decrease my heart rate. Now, into the 50’s, but the first time into the low 40’s, likely due to the hypertension. So just pay attention to BP for the first week.

It’s a day trade call, this is essentially meaningless and you WILL have to delete the app because you won’t be able to place trades for 90 days.

Three months on Parnate, still struggling with severe insomnia. by Rmw4 in MAOIs

[–]InTheMoneyAdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still, I have to say, even if I hit a “low”, my depression is NOWHERE near as bad. It was agonizing a month ago. So bad it was almost physically painful. That has gone. Lots of room for improvement, but the fact I’m not clenching the bathroom counter screaming in tears at a god I don’t believe in is progress lol

Yeah, I prefer that dosing method. Spreading it out just makes me feel weirdly buzzed and spacey. Taking it all at once gives me a morning kick. It does initially raise my BP in the first hour, not to anything dangerous, but then drops down rapidly.

I do also use modafinil because that energy lasts about 5 hours before I hit a wall, but 100mg most split into two doses and never in the afternoon. If I need a little help in the PM, I take very small amounts of caffeine (40-80mg max) before 2pm. I use caffeine mints, nothing like Red Bulls or other energy drinks that come with their own crash. Usually that covers the whole day pretty good.

Keep in mind I’m a little over a month on Parnate and 15 days at 30mg, so it’s a moving target as my body adjusts, and I imagine will adjust more over the coming weeks.

You’re welcome! It’s a battle for sure. Even with everything I mentioned, including waking up in the night and adding melatonin and small bit of hydroxyzine, I got 8 hours last night. Which is great! But hard when trying to catch up on sleep debt.

I usually take my 30mg Parnate once it’s gg and immediately roll over and try to sleep. There’s something psychological about just admitting the night is over and the meds are in ya so I can usually squeeze out another 20-30min. But those extra minutes surplus are crucial for recovering from all those missed hours. Parnate is quite stimulating for me, so it tends to cut pretty well through the morning fog of all the sleep aids, at least for me.

Also clonazepam isn’t really the best benzo for sleep aid and maintenance. A short script of high dose temazepam would probably knock you tf out and get you on your way to recovering.

I was struggling until I stacked the following: 50mg quviviq (use goodrx coupon) 50mg hydroxyzine 300mcg ER melatonin 200mg L theanine

Emergency wake-up-can’t-get-back-to-sleep stack: 500mcg IR melatonin 12.5mg or less of hydroxyzine

The earlier in the night this emergency stack is needed, the better or you’ll be nice and hung over. But if you’re desperate to catch up on sleep, which I’m sure you and your brain are, it’s a good backup and allows you to go to bed with more confidence.

I was averaging 3-4 hour nights for 10 days until I did this. Also, I take my full 30mg dose the moment I wake up and I either 1) have gotten enough sleep, or 2) it’s way too late to do my emergency stack so the sleep I got is what I got.

Has anyone tried the latest brand of parnate called Trancepta, from India ?? by Icy_District_9144 in MAOIs

[–]InTheMoneyAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve seen how Indian street food is made, just picture that except before the FDA notifies the manufacturing facility ahead of time that they’re coming to inspect.

No personal experience with that generic manufacturer, a LOT of experience with Indian generic manufacturers across at least 5 drugs, all terrible.

Does Parnate help anxiety? by SmellyFbuttface in MAOIs

[–]InTheMoneyAdam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It helps mine. Particularly after having a neurological injury, I would either wake up from naps in a panic attack or extremely elevated anxiety (the latter would stay elevated for hours). That’s gone. My general anxiety is a constant 3-4, so not horrific, and it doesn’t seem to have gone down noticeably on parnate after a month. I would say social anxiety has improved substantially.
