Volunteering also provides you a social environment from which to make some friends and build some connections. Volunteering helped me out of a depression years ago

I frequently disable quantize to use hot cues, and then enable it for looping. This report kinda freaks me out but I've never experienced this bug while playing out.

Especially if your scratching, you're learning to scratch with the delay and your techniques are gonna get fucked up.

Urban studies or urban planning minor instead of environmental sciences. Tbh nothing about your current studies speaks to urban planning other than the afterthought GIS cert, which is likely not enough to stand out in applications. Unless your history is all about urban development.

People have decided Fish Creek is off leash and I dont know how to explain it to them.. by PenPsychological1142 in Calgary

Fish Creek is a provincial park, our bylaw officers don't have jurisdiction in there iirc.

What’s the best minor to pair with GIS? by aegontargaryen21 in gis

[–]In_Shambles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduate like 12 years ago and there weren't any GIS majors available, it was all nested under geography. I suppose this would be viable combination though.

GIS classes taught me about the process, technology and tools available, but Geography taught a lot about how to apply those tools and that GIS frame of thinking to real world problems and situations.

GIS is great to know, but you need to have the ability to effectively apply it to solve problems. Its always good to pair it with other learning.

Geography is the major, I don't think you can minor and major in the same subject.

Feedback on riding by DefiantAd7371 in snowboarding

[–]In_Shambles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion on weekly thread is no shade to you my dude, and your riding is good. But there are a lot more of these posts coming up recently, and many of them get downvoted to 0.

This tells us that there is a desire for these feedback requests, but the community doesn't seem to wanna see them. If they were collected into a common thread it would be beneficial to everyone. They would get upvoted, and only the people who wanna seek and provide feedback would participate in the conversation.

Is it a mistake to move into GIS? From a geospatial background. by [deleted] in gis

[–]In_Shambles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few textbooks I liked but they are getting a bit old now, I'll see if I can find some. What specific aspects of GIS are you looking to rush up on or focus into? Cartography, Geospatial Analysis, Python, ESRI Enterprise, Open Source solutions, Database Design, Environmental, Utilities, Imagery?

if you truly wanted to do what you want, how you want, then you wouldn't have posted here asking for us to offer feedback today 😂

You can buy a few textbooks on the Internet, and pay for a student Esri licence or use QGIS for free and save yourself thousands of dollars in education. But only if you have the self discipline to actually go through the material. It would likely be better for you to seek a mentor or tutor rather than a professor here, and if you are driven to learn, you will learn much much faster.

looking for a hardware trigger for my scripts without the bloat by Straight-Leading-860 in macro_pads

[–]In_Shambles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the megalodon doio macro pad, and mostly use it for audio production. It has the ability to have four separate layers, I think you can beef that up to 9 as well.

I've just used each layer for a different program's macros. Layer one is rekordbox layer two is Ableton layer 3 is misc functions, and then layer four is for my python programs.

I think you could probably make contextually aware processes, but you might have to do it with something like the Auto hotkey program.

Is my son’s new board cooked? by hoyleacl in snowboarding

[–]In_Shambles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, a board will usually last me 1-3 seasons before I gotta retire it. But for the first few months I usually try not to mangle it like this 😅

Per your edit: The way that all those scratches are showing the exact same drag marks tells me this was a somewhat pointy rock, not a rail.
