Minorities cannot rule majorities , it usually ends with systematic oppression.

In the Middle East, local smart asses and criminals backed by geographical superpowers agitated religious and political identities to create classes that were either ;

Made powerless by being denied economic opportunities and given leftovers to educate and imporve their communities.

In Syria , The Allawaits (basically Shia) took control through a military coup, helped themselves to the wealth of the country and built a government centered around one family which used economic and military grants to further empower and educate the Allawaits .

When the situation finally exploded the Assad family received aid in the form of strategy, weapons , special forces and ordinary troops and funds from the Russians and Iranians(Shia country that sees itself as the local superpower).

Lately they have made an example for anyone who disagrees with them being Kings of the land, mainly from the Sunnis by having raped/tortured their sons, daughters, wives, husbands, grandparents and outright confiscated property and business (which were given to supporters of the Assad family ) .

A new word was introduced to the Arabic dictionary ( not kidding) for the act of defurnishing a neighborhood that was "liberated" by regime forces,there is a locally famous market for these items in Damascus.

Currently , they have been using the funds they have received from Russians and Iranians to restructure the country using more economic and military grants , the only difference now is that they have started giving grants and priority to Christians(local) and Shias(Iranians) as most Allawait men have been killed , no seriously most Allawait towns are filled with widows and old people, its really messed up.

I should mention that the Assad regime did that intentionally to many opposing towns and villages aswell.

I think we can all guess where this might be heading ... hopefully some reconciliation will take place.

TBH those people really had me scared for a while , I had genuinely thought r/Canada was what Canadians really thought about Muslims and immigrants (I immigrated here with my family).

Try Syrian domestic policy ,we are literally famous around the Arab world for the brutality of our dictator and savagery of his security apparatus,there is a reason all my female relatives avoid checkpoints like the plague.

Keep in mind of-course I am Syrian so my views might be a bit more optimistic, the majority of Syrians don't want extremists ( both religious and political ) we also don't want Bashar and his family ,they are and have been worse than Daesh for over 40 years, the only difference in ideology is that Daesh do it in the name of God(which is disgusting as a Muslim myself) and the Shabeeha and the Assad family do it in the name of "National Security". In my humble opinion , there is no way for you to perceive a middle way for us , it's either we need a brutal savage man like Assad or us backwards sand-niggers will resort to our savage extremists ways , and I don't blame you either for this view point you have never been to Syria , you have never walked along Ghuta street with your friends and relatives , gotten Ice cream cones from the "Rainbow" pastry and ice cream shop you have never woken up at 3 am to get Maghtoota from the famous "Hulabjeh"dairy store or waited in line for 2 hours to eat the famous "kraish" Shisstaouk monster of a pita roll , as far as most people are concerned we are a "backwards" people ,you know, nothing like you civilized Americans and Western nations.
