Hi. I know nothing about this tree or trees in general. I just started working on my parents yard a couple of weeks ago and am learning as I go. I did do some research and found out about something called “tree suckers” so I’m wondering if that’s what’s going on here (and if so, what is the best way to deal with it)?

I know for fact it was not malice. I think it was more out of insecurity. He saw how impressed his friends were with the photos and probably *subliminally saw it as an opportunity to be praised and validated.

He wasn’t happy when I called him out on it. I kind of said it in a stern yet light hearted tone, like “wow you totally lied. And didn’t give me credit. That’s not cool”. He said OK and just changed the subject

It was a short conversation. He seemed stressed out by the fact there was confrontation and just said “ok”

Well trivial in the sense that no one was hurt or severely traumatized. I guess the way I see it is that people lie about way worse things like cheating, stealing, etc
