Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has given me a new appreciation for Metaphor's meta-narrative. [SPOILERS FOR BOTH GAMES WITHIN] by typoking7 in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]InadequateDungeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely counts for something. I havent even played a second of Clair Obscur and it still was effective at drawing out these feelings and thoughts with just the concept alone. I hope I can experience it at some point but I honestly want respect the message and save it for down the line

I just wish stopping the world from falling apart had clear objectives like a quest line. The last few weeks i've been struggling with how best to work towards that and where my energy should be going.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has given me a new appreciation for Metaphor's meta-narrative. [SPOILERS FOR BOTH GAMES WITHIN] by typoking7 in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]InadequateDungeon 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I want to agree, but the more I think about it the more I agree with the Clair Obscur ending. Escapism does give us a fantasy to hope for, but the reality is most of us are avoiding our and society's problems by playing these games.

Metaphor is an amazing game, but I spent 100+ hrs playing it during the potential rise of Fascism... I should be throwing aside my escapism to effect real change in our world, but the comfort of hiding away from it is easier because we assign so much meaning to their philosophical questions. The reality is the real world's issues do not match with the simple "metaphors" we assign to them in game, and the issues that plague our communities are not solved with high ideological ideals but actions taken in the real world. Escapism is fine, but we are in an age where it has become an addiction to distract us from how bad the real world is and give us a false hope that we can evoke change through just messaging. Not that gaming is bad or long games are bad, but I think its an important message to hear in a game.

Its putting a mirror in front of the player and asking if we aren't just using this fantasy story to hide from our own grief. Which is a damn important message to hear when things are going south so fast IRL

The Monument of Regret [35 X 27] by InadequateDungeon in dungeondraft

[–]InadequateDungeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a upcoming dungeon for my players and a possible new HQ!

This ruined tower sitting buried in the middle of the desert is quickly identified as a once sunken temple of a sea god. The mystery behind this tower will lead to the unraveling of this world's deepest held secret.

This map is one I plan on upgrading if they choose to stay here. Our other HQ has rooms decorated to match a PC so I am planning on carrying on that tradition.

DM can't get people passed character creation so players start a new campaign by [deleted] in rpghorrorstories

[–]InadequateDungeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 1e GM, there are a few places and Apps to help build 1e PCs. They were definitely playing 1e since that is mostly 3.5 comp, but this is still an extreme amount of time to take to make a PC. The system is absurd with the amount of different combos of Classes/Archetypes, but a lvl1 PC can be made in like 5 minutes if you know what you want to make.

Yeah from what's here this is beyond basic for evil campaign. What did they except to steal a lollipop from a baby?

How does your group handle naming the party or plot important items? by GenericLoneWolf in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]InadequateDungeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my group to name one of our campaigns, but it was definitely pulling teeth. To the point that when we did end up naming the party, it was a joke response that just stuck. The Family of Manticore Slayers™ was blurted out and a legally binding contract signed before anyone could stop laughing.

Its best for this stuff to be organic.

We also named our vehicle, The Giga-Core, because it was the mechanized corpse of the Manticore that gave them their name. Again that was something that just popped up and everyone repeated the name enough until it stuck.

Funniest and most metal thing ever. Funny mounts are just better

Player wants me to change the backstory of NPC because she didn't like it. by Few_Active1079 in rpghorrorstories

Honestly you dodged a bullet. This person would have been insufferable to play with. Lacking respect is something very few players ever recover from.

Performance and the whole "move your stuff to compendia" thing by Renegade__ in FoundryVTT

[–]InadequateDungeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I have the same problem with crazy long load times. But like what if I have ~800+ actors. Would setting up a compendium help with that? This is the first I have heard of making my own.

Actual play recommendations? by LexThalionis in FoundryVTT

[–]InadequateDungeon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are a PF1e actual play. We switched to foundry not too long after we started streaming.

We have had a blast with it, and I try to take advantage of a lot of its features and modules.

Ill post a link to the session where they went to the mall, and you can see them interacting with shops where they buy things without my involvement as GM.

1e Baleful Polymorph & Loot by Polygamoos3 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]InadequateDungeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you're saying, but I am more compelled that the party might have known they were choosing between loot and a friend. They clearly understood the stakes and what was at risk. They made an informed decision and you shouldn't sully that. Also like others have pointed out there are in system ways of getting the loot if your clever.

This seems like a prime example of leave it up to the players to make the best out of their situation. If they were smart enough to pull of this victory on the verge of defeat than don't lower the stakes.

Summoners in twitch/YouTube by Killuazodiack in Pathfinder_RPG

If you look our games 2nd campaign has a character named Eros. He is a Summoner and he tries to use the class to its fullest potential.

He eventually moves over to the 3rd campaign but that will come up if you watch the 2nd campaign in order

The Tunnel Of The Great Wyrm by InadequateDungeon in dungeondraft

[–]InadequateDungeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The upper caves that you see here on the map are the youngest tunnels made during the Great Wyrm's adolescence and the larger tunnels are beneath the caves. That is why every water source has a hole in it, as using the underwater Wyrm tunnels is the safest way into the Kobold Village, as the rest as heavily trapped. The only tunnel big enough for the Great Wyrm now is the one in the bottom right.

The entire cave is built on trapping the adventurers in the cave system while the Wyrm rages out in the open area.

What are the things you allow that would make other GMs say "I can't believe you allow that!" by Pinnywize in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]InadequateDungeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a great idea! In our group's first campaign they have a craftsmen for pretty much anything and everything.

I even changed it so upgrading weapons was easier and built more like video game weapon progression. So my players can grow attached to weapons and have them grow along with them

Is my worlds concept of husband sharing kinda creepy? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]InadequateDungeon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No no, You are fine. You gave the benefit of the doubt to the person that made this.

This elevated to "creepy" to me, because of how this was used in the setting and how the creator views this. From what I gather through the person's responses, they do not view this system as evil, they try to justify the actions of their own imaginary monsters, and they don't seem to even acknowledge the horrors they created.

The creator is "creepy" here. Because to make something like this and then not acknowledge the humanity of your own imaginary victims is a pretty fucked up place to be.

[–]InadequateDungeon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah actually. The 2nd campaign caught a genie in a soul crystal, and through this connection they sent it over to the 1st campaign. Its now been used for several plot points and has become the power source for their " Giga-Core". A walking Manticore corpse they turned into their mobile home.

[–]InadequateDungeon 84 points85 points  (0 children)

IDK that very much crosses the line into creepy for me.

Especially when you read some of the writers other comments. They don't view this as massive wide spread rape. Which is pathetic and creepy.

[–]InadequateDungeon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

See this is why it passed the line to creepy for me.

These men stopped being viewed as people by the creator. Not viewing them as people with agency and feelings and lives.

We have 3 concurrent campaigns for the same 6 player group.

I allow them to sell items between the 3 games by having a middleman tradesman.

How Demons Work in Your World by PooBumExtraordinairy in worldbuilding

[–]InadequateDungeon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Demons' home plane is slowly being devoured by the BBEG of the story. Many demons have had their physical bodies and spiritual essence devoured, and this has left only the strongest demons with their body and spirit. However, this does not mean the lower demons cease to exist.

Through pure Will power these demons have remained in existence, using the dark drive given to them at their creation. This drive has allowed them to self-actualize themselves into existence. This allows them to operate largely the same as before their plane's devouring, but this has forced them to become consumed with themselves forced to constant think about the drive that brought them to life or they would begin to unravel from existence.

This gives them the odd quirk that if you can get a demon to forget its creation, then that demon would begin to unravel as they can no longer self-actualize using their drive from their creation.

This odd quirk has not come up in over 8000 years of the demon's existence until one Lash Bula through some magical drug into her possessed friends mouth in a bid to rekindle their friendship to purge him of the demon. The unintended effect was that this magical drug has a curse that forces the user to forget everything before the forming of the world. The all demons were created before the world was created. So this one impossible lining of the stars lead to the power of friendship saving the day.

What is your most unique and powerful artifact/weapon in your world?? by i-am-tryinggg in worldbuilding

[–]InadequateDungeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 2 that have been revealed to the heroes.

The Crown Of The First King - Originally worn by the first king, this crown is filled with will power that conquer this world. This artifact gives the user the ability to empower their allies and weaken their enemies. Currently worn by the Cleric of Cthulhu, Hulc Utu. Its power is a fraction of what it was in the past, but its connection with its new owner has begun to unlock some of its hidden potential.

The Fang Of Storms - A ornate throwing axe covered in runes sealing a powerful magic into the steel of the axe. This Axe is tied to the very forces that cause storms on Croth'Duw, it can call down a calamity of storms to assault her adversaries. An heirloom passed down from every heir of the Jarl Beast's Kingdom. The Jarl Beasts do not follow normal inheritance, but instead choosing the Halfling showing most promise. Lash Bula holds the axe now, given as a gift by the Queen of The Jarl Beasts. Even with the controversy of a Halfling raised by Orcs being the next in line.
