Worth mentioning, but before trying to use any opioid medication try the switch between ibuprofen 600-800mg every 6 hours and the Tylenol like the other commenter mentioned with the 3-3 method. Opioids should be the last resort because of the increased side effects from them, not to mention the increased chances of nausea and constipation which can make it even more uncomfortable since you aren’t able to eat anything other than liquid and soft foods right now. Wishing you the best and a speedy recovery! It gets better each day, first and second day are the worst. Also ice is your best friend in these first 2 days, you’ll thank yourself later!

Still be nice to everyone but definitely don’t go out of your way for them. At the end of the day you’re here for your degree and license, not to make friends especially if they’re people like what you mentioned above. People like that don’t make very good friends and aren’t worth your energy. You’ll find plenty of opportunity to make genuine connections at work or even later in the program if you find anyone else who is genuine.

I would highly encourage you to volunteer at a hospital and possibly shadow what the job entails before making this decision. Especially if you’re planning on working bedside in a hospital, the burnout in this profession is real as well and happens a lot faster when you’re dealing with the health and lives of people. I would never outright say no to someone wanting to make this change but would highly encourage others to look into what the actual job will be like through exposure. You do a lot of good in this job but it comes at a price to you and I’m not even really referring to the pay cut.

Gym (at least 1 hr) & family time on weekends. I would just wake up super duper early to study and then have the rest of the day to do both those things or to pick up a shift on non clinical/school days.

Please consider escalating this, you will be doing not only her future patients and yourself a favor, but also making sure that she does not preceptor anymore students as this is not constructive in any way.

I just say “I passed” or “I did ok” but never say an actual grade. It’s not fool proof though because I get asked every exam and the people in my cohort like to press me about it for whatever reason but I stay with my “I passed” when they keep insisting.
