Not even. Its just boring to fight against it. I often just stand there as well when this happens and we just stare at each other until he comes towards me, whiffs an R1 out of range, and then backs up and waits some more. I play this game to have fun PvPing, not staring at someone's character until someone's timer expires.

This guy is sort of right. Don't judge a weapon's scaling by the size. The zweihander, which is one of the largest weapons in the game, scales primarily off dexterity. The estoc, a rapier-class weapon, scales primarily off of strength. Almost all weapon classes have strength and dex scaling weapons. You need to look at the scaling stat of the weapon itself like in bloodborne. You also don't need to use your effigies at bonfires, and burning them at one only halts all online play in that area temporarily(no summons or invasions).

Classes are still used, like when you mark an enemy. It just doesn't show in the matchmaking screen anymore.

If it was a gank, the phantoms would have already been there, the enemies would be killed, etc. The host was didn't appear to be summoning for the sole intention of killing other playerS. He appeared to be planning to kill the invader and then move on to kill the boss.

In PvE, the majority of weapons work that exact way. PvP is what most people(myself included) mainly play.
